Chapter One – Introduction and Positivity
Smoking is one of Life's Choices! You can choose whether you smoke or whether you don't.
Oh! but I can already hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth as smokers say it is much more complicated than that. Well read on and we will see.
Life is about Choices, you choose between doing something or not, based on what is going on in your life at a specific time. We choose our friends based on our view of what is good or bad. We choose our clothes based on our sense of taste and style. All of these choice are right for us at that point, because they relate to how life has built to get to this point now.
Smoking is a choice. As we will see it is a choice based on erroneous thinking but a choice all the same. However, as we go through life the reason for that choice can vary and even disappear. We then rely on something to give us another reason for continuing with that choice. Unfortunately, the something we now rely to make our choice is that beast called Nicotine, and who's best interest has it got at heart?
Luckily STOPPING smoking is also a choice, one that you can make at any time. If you are reading this you have made a decision, a choice, to become a non-smoker, someone who has not only stopped but stopped forever.
Positivity is a life skill that sometimes we happen upon, but more often we forget, in the daily rush that is our lives. What is positivity?
First, what it is not. It is not a blind faith that all will be better no matter what is happening around us. It is not the self improvement clap trap that is often sold to people as a way to the perfect life - think positive and forget the problems.
What it is
Allowing yourself to see what is good within your life already. Celebrate what is already there and stop being jealous of those you perceive to have more. The more your aware of what you already have the easier it becomes to let go of jealousy.
Living in the now. That means we live our life this minute, this second. By remembering this we can let go other issues in life and concentrate on what we are doing now. Then it is about making what we are doing now what we want to be doing.
Look forward to the future. Set goals and plans as to what you want your future to really look like. Because without these goals and plans how will you get there? How will you know when you have arrived?
