About this audiobook

"Woman- the biggest mistake you can make is removing jewels from your crown, to make it easier for a man to carry. When this happens, realize... You do not need a smaller crown— You need a man with bigger hands.”- Michael Reid.

Stavrok won’t let anything stand between him and his mate.

There’s a beast inside of me, and there will be a time when I can’t control him. That’s what my father told me happens when my dragon finds his mate. He will claim them. He will not be gentle. He will not be sweet. My dragon will do whatever it takes to ensure his mate doesn’t leave, no matter the cost.

Lucy thinks soulmates are only for her dreams.

When a stranger breaks into my home and comes after me, I recognize his face. He’s the man from my dreams—the one I’m destined to fall in love with. But I don’t believe in soulmates. That’s why I try to flee.

Stavrok takes Lucy to the snowy mountains, hellbent on proving she’s his mate.

But then his kingdom is attacked, and Lucy is stolen away from the Dragon King. Now her only hope lies in knowing Stavrok will turn the world to ash and brimstone looking for her...and his dragon babies.

I'm finding the 'I'm a size 16 and therefore far to hideous to be attractive to this man and way too heavy to be picked up by any man' really grating. Added to the narrator's odd choice of voicing the mmc with this weird croaky phlegm filled, need to take a big hearty chough spoken voice. It isn't even remotely attractive, started off annoying, and by chaper 12, it was simply off-putting, and I'm struggling to finish listening. In fact, I'm also finding the mfc rather hard to like too
DNF - I only made it 3/4 of the way through chapter 15 I honestly lack the patience to continue listening past this point. Not sure I can even start any of the others in the series either as it is the same narrator, it's a shame as I had high hopes for this.

I struggled too with the “I’m a big girl and hideous” part and also frustrated with the set up of her having dreamt of him for years but seemed so befuddled by the possibilities of Stavrok being real and a dragon. Why?

Didn't like the narrator's voice, she didn't fit either character, and sounds like she would fit an old world, regal genre then a modern fantasy romance.

Entertaining! I think I just wanted more. It was an instalove story that’s been told a million times but what would’ve made it extra special was more on the world and more vivid descriptions. I was still entertained though!
