About this audiobook

I NEVER KNEW WHEN HE’D COME TO ME. ONLY THAT HE WOULD.

I’d never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning.

He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. “Drive,” he tells me, and I have no choice. He’s a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.

The police say he’s dangerously obsessed with me, but I’m the one who can’t stop thinking about him. Maybe it’s wrong to let him touch me. Maybe it’s wrong to touch him back. Maybe these twisted dates need to stop. Except he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions.

So I drive us under threat, until it’s hard to remember I don’t want to be there.

Until it’s too late to turn back.

One of the best books ever!!! It was soooo deep and had a lot of emotions that warmed my heart, I love Stone so much absolutely recommend reading. It’s a well thought out story and it is written really well. 10/10

Also the narrator Jacob Morgan brought Stone to life such an amazing voice ;) So calming and sonorous.

This is a very gripping story. I just couldn't stop listening till I finished it. And the narrators are both really good!!
I also read Prisoner which is book 1 of this series, but this one was a lot better. I loved it.

Heartbreaking but also captivating.. I loved that Stone took on the big brother/protector role. The bond is amazing. You really feel it through the words. Amazing story.

Narration was good. At least for Stone. Female narrator was very breathy. It was very distracting.

    DNF @chapter 12

This story has so much potential. It fits into a light-dark category and has elements of suspense and age gap- things I love in a story...

I wanted to like the main characters but found myself getting frustrated with the poor rich girl who wants to be the perfect daughter. Her mom is just horrible- why is she constantly making excuses for her behaviour.
Stone I could see where his character is meant to grow/ develop but it feels too plotted for want of a better word. Yes, he’s the bad boy with a past trauma and made promises to right the pain and torture he and his band of brothers endured. His motives are from the heart, in an anti-hero kind of way but the other guys just let him take on all the risk- and it’s for THEM!!
I didn’t feel the chemistry or connection between he characters. I think it’s the story telling that didn’t hook me.

I also usually enjoy the narration by Zachary Webber but this performance felt lack lustre.

This one hasn’t hit the mark for me, but it could for you.

This was unexpected and engaging. I applaud the exploration of trauma transformation—especially when the subject matter explores the aftermath of sexual assault, but I get a little uncomfortable when the narrative also involves explicit romance with an underage character.

I will say that the denouement was entirely satisfying—the characters did not remain static—but the early stalking of the 16 yo girl really really bothered me. I see how the author also gave her agency, but it really walked the line (for me). I guess I like to keep the narratives separate, but I realize it doesn’t always work that way.

Still: a compelling read. A little “lost boys,” and a heartbreaking tale of lost innocence and the staggered, non-linear path to self preservation through love.

I know this is not the popular opinion but I liked the "Prisoner" more than "Hostage". The reasons are the age disparity between Stone and Brooke was not sitting well with me especially when she was 16 , 17. He was a decade older! The 2nd reason this kinda painted Stone as a hypocrtite. There he was almost murdering Abby in order to preserve the Brotherhood yet he becomes the one person to immediately get into an even riskier entanglement which almost cost the lives of the freedom of the little boys still held hostage and which almost left the Predators to roam free. That didn't sit well with me not in the least. I am glad justice prevailed and I am glad Rivera turned out to be a good cop at least that kinda restored the Guys faith in humanity. The end result was great just didn't enjoy some parts of the ride.

The book had so much potential but the MFC was only 16. Made me so uncomfortable I just had to return it. The MMC is in his late 20s. I had some hope that after the initial abduction the next scene for her she would be an adult of consenting age not 16 and 8 months. When the phone sex started it just made me feel gross. This should be deeply frowned upon. Do better Matin and Warren. Do you even have daughters???

I never wanted this book to end. It was such a great story and Zachary Webber is perfection.
