About this audiobook

I was only looking for a roommate…

I’m the town widow.

Not the only one, but the youngest by far.

My husband died one year after our wedding, casting me as the charity case in my small Alaskan town.

Since then, everyone—including my big family—try to keep me busy as if that will stop the haunting memories from resurfacing.

Do I know it’s time to move on? Of course, but that’s easier said than done.

Then Van Adler rides into town. His bad boy vibe complete with his motorcycle and tattoos causes my body to fill with need for the first time since my husband’s death.

To make matters worse, he’s the one who answered my ad for a roommate. Sharing the close quarters of our two-bedroom apartment means I have to set some ground rules like keeping his rippled abs covered. Soon we become friends, he’s making me dinners, and we’re binge-watching television shows all night.

The more our lives intertwine, the more I start to fall for him. Leaving me wondering, can you find the love of your life twice in one lifetime?

I’m really enjoying the Lake Starlight series! Enjoying another generation of Baileys as they find their HEAs is fun. Sweet, steamy, with well-developed characters and a story that kept me engaged from the very beginning, I highly recommend The Issue with Bad Boy Roommates. Narration was excellent!

I just THOUGHT that Rylan & Calista’s story was the book I was absolutely needing from Lake Starlight. But as I told one of my book friends last night ,this is definitely the Bailey next gen book I needed. Like…I didn’t know how much I needed Brinley to have a man just like her dad. Someone to bring her out of her shell & show her her true self ??. And the way that this man was dirty talking her without even dirty talking ?. How is that even possible!?

Brinley Kelly has experienced more heartbreak in her short adult life than anyone should have to suffer. And though she’s stuck in a rut, she doesn’t want to be. Because all she wants, is to be normal.

Van Adler is the wildcard that rolled in to town that no one was expecting. He rode into town on his motorcycle & tipped the life of the town’s “charity case” on its axis. He’s big, tattooed, and working at Lucky’s bar is not one to be messed with. Except Liam Kelly isn’t scared (maybe because he sees a kindred soul).

The way that Van had me swooning all over the place, even though every expectation was for him to be a hardass. The way that he treated Brinley at every turn. He brought her back to the woman she was meant to be, and I couldn’t help but love every aspect of him & her together. He gives her everything she needs at any given second, and holds back when he knows it might be too much for her. She knows, from the start, that she is beautiful & desired in his eyes…& there’s really nothing more beautiful than that.

When it comes to Van, his inability to see his true worth is annihilated when a town like Lake Starlight, a family like The Bailey’s, & a woman like Brinley accepts & embraces him. It’s a life he’s never known he longed for, but one he doesn’t want to let go.

The way that these two just fit perfectly. Not just physically, but emotionally, with wit, with likes & dislikes, & just in total personality. There was something absolutely perfect in how they challenged each other, yet supported each other fully.

I could go on gushing about this book, this couple, this series, & this author…but I’d rather you experience the amazing ride for yourself.

    Audiobook Review:
Connor Crais & Melissa Moran’s narration was SUPERB! The emotions, vulnerability, confidence, & friendliness in their voices just resonated. I loved the dual narration, it brings an extra punch to the perfectness of the story through audio.

OVERALL REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

I am such a huge fan of the Bailey clan that I could not wait to start listening to this story and it was almost everything I’d hope it would be. I had some issues with some of the plot-points of the story but overall, these two were an epic #swoonfest!

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 4.5 STARS

It’s always a pleasure to listen to a story being brought to life by Connor Crais. He’s versatile in his adaptations and very talented.
I’ve only listened to a few narrations by Melissa Moran, so I don’t have enough of a knowledge base to say this or that about her talent, but she did fairly well with her part on this story, so I can’t complain.

STORY REVIEW & RATING: SOLID 3.5 STARS but good enough to round up to 4 for vendor sites!

This story had an ease to it that was perfection for these characters. They both have circumstances to hurdle in order to move forward with their lives so you would think the story would be angst-driven, but it wasn’t! It was more hopeful than anything else and it just fit perfectly. The friendship was built before the chemistry was ignited between brin and Van and that also was perfection for who these two were. Piper Rayne did so good with the development of the characters that it was easy to overlook some of the hmmmmmmm moments I had with the storyline. However, one such hmmmmm moment sticks out like a sore thumb for me every time I think about this romance journey, and it just kills me they made the choice they did with it!! UGH!

    ****SPOILER ALERT****
The conflict that drives Van away from brin without even a second glance, just made me hang my head and want to cry. Instead of using that circumstance as a positive, kismet bond type of plot-point, and developing it as part of their growth, they used it at the very end with very little development and quite frankly it made zero sense to me. I mean I get why Van would assume running would be the choice to make, but Brin just let him, only to turn around and go find him. It was an abrupt plot-point that deserved to be better fleshed out and used in a positive way, in my opinion.
    ****END SPOILER****

It always blows my mind how one scene in a book can completely turn the reader’s experience on its axis and it always seems to be when conflict is thrown in at the end when conflict isn’t even necessary. This particular plot-point was very necessary for Brin and Van, but not as a conflict and not thrown in at almost the end of the story. So yeah, that was disappointing.

Piper Rayne has proven time and time again that they are truly talented so I will continue to devour all their words until the day they stop writing. Most of the times they’re a homerun for me so I’m still extremely happy to have read another Bailey getting their HEA :)
