I'm really enjoying these characters, even as their adventures get weirder and weirder. She creates an engaging world.

This is the 2nd book in the World of the Lupi series. There are 14 books in this series right now. This was a good continuation of this series. I continue to enjoy the story and the characters. I really enjoyed all the time we got to spend in Dis and the unique creatures we meet there. This is much more of a fantasy/urban fantasy than a PNR which is fine with me.All the above being said by the end of the book my interest was starting to lag a bit. There was maybe just too much thrown at the reader at once. I am interested in how things play out with the dragons and did like their introduction into the story. However, I am not sure I am intrigued enough about it to continue this reading this already very long series.Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend to urban fantasy fans if you are looking for a decent UF read. However, I am already reading a lot of UF series and this one doesn’t make it to my top five. As a result I probably won’t continue with the series. I may come back to it someday if I run out of other urban fantasies to read; it’s a decent series just not spectacular.

Mystery, action, fantasy and love, what more could you ask for... great characters, and Wilks delivers them. Lily Yu now an FBI agent and her mate Rule Turner are still trying to figure out the whole mate-bond thing when a crazy preacher with a magical staff from the under-world starts causing all kind of mayhem. This brings our heroes Lilly , Rule and co. to a very dangerous place where they encounter many new beasties and (my favorite) DRAGONS !!!! Lily and rule are separated and yet not separated, this is heartbreaking. They are helped by pack members and magical friends to save themselves from a force bigger than either is ready for.
Oh, I loved this book. It had the right amount of all my favorite elements for a good story and keep me up reading most of the night.

Showing definite improvement, Eileen Wilks demonstrates solid story telling. Don't understand why this series is classified romance by my library. Other books classified as fantasy spend much more time on the romantic relationship than this series does. Which is just the way I like it!!!

My least favorite book in the series by far (mostly because of the heart-breaking yet strangely WTF? ending). This is where I stopped a few years ago until Wilks's short story in the Inked anthology brought me back to the series. It's helpful to read this to understand what's going on in the rest of the series, but if you chose to skip it, the major parts are summarized when relevant in later books. Lily's grandmother is by far the best part of this book.

The second part of the longer book that was planned. This basically carries on immediately after the first book, puts Lily and Rule into a lot of danger, and in Hell, and lets them acquire some interesting allies. It bounces along quickly and smoothly, integrating its elements nicely and really finding its feet.

I'm enjoying this series, even if this book was weaker than the first (tempting danger) The relationship between Lily and Rule progresses. The war between the female goddesses escalates and there are dragons. What more could you want? It dragged down a bit in the last third, it's very plot heavy, but you just have to love Rule, and Lily does not turn into a TSTL heroine. Unlike many fantasy romances, the fantasy aspect here is very highly worked out. Wilks clearly loves the world she's created and thinks about it alot. I'm looking forward to book 3!

I've had this ever since it came out, but for various reasons I never actually started reading it - which is strange as I loved Tempting Danger and the short story Originally Human.I loved this too. It was great to see more of Lily and Rule - and a 'soulmate' kind of relationship where they still have to work on the relationship was a nice change from the way the concept is often written.Cullen is back and new character Cynna is a fascinating introduction. Considering she's human with a dubious past, the fact her future seems to be firmly bound to the lupi should make life interesting. The story begins as Lily's sister's wedding - the same one her mother kept hassling her about not having a partner for in Tempting Danger - where she is attacked by a demon that attempts to possess her. The attempt fails, at least mostly, but kicks off the events of the book.Lily and Rule are still looking from Patrick Harlowe from the last book and I was rather surprised when they found him only half way through. However, it soon became clear that Harlowe was only a minor player and once again the Aza goddess is the real enemy. She now has demon allies and Rule and Lily - or part of Lily - end up dragged into the demon realm. This is a complicated story - and not really a romance despite it saying so on the cover - that deals with relationships, faith, identity and what it is that makes one "human".I'm delighted to discover the next book will be published in January, so I guess there was an up side to my long delay. Now I don't have so long to wait.

I've heard some people say this one wasn't as good as the first one, but I have to disagree. It was excellent. Although that 'paranormal romance' on the spine is a bit misleading, which may be what they were responding to. This is much heavier on the paranormal than on the romance bit. In fact, the romance between Lily & Rule is pretty much a given, and it's just a matter of them adjusting to it. The story is more about Lily being attacked by a demon, and About the nature of identity. More of Cullen, from the first book, and an introduction of Cynna, who I think will end up with him, from the sparks they strike off each other. I LOVE this series, & think it's one of the best of the several new paranormal series I've read. Can't wait for the next one.
