About this audiobook

As chaos looms, a warrior queen is reborn

Scholar Diana Laughton can't shake her terrible nightmares. Dreams of battle, dreams of blood . . . dreams so vivid she's living them day and night. When demons invade her quiet life and she flees to Scotland, she fears she might be going mad. Or perhaps she's remembering a past life she never knew existed . . .

In the midst of betrayal, he must protect her

Mythean Guardian Cadan Trinovante is haunted by a tortured history he shared with Boudica, Ancient Britain's warrior queen. Now that she's been reincarnated and given a deadly task, he vows to protect her. He won't let her uncover the truth about their past. It would make her hate him-a fate he refuses to accept.

To succumb to seduction could prove fatal

Thrown together in a shadowy world that exists alongside our own, Diana must learn to fight the demonic forces that want her dead. When Diana attempts to seduce Cadan for information about her past, he aches to claim her. His greatest battle will be resisting a passion that has lasted centuries . . . and is prophesied to destroy them both.

Contains mature themes.

The great thing about this book is that there is a whole new range of supernaturals, something beyond your regular werewolves & vampires. Covering a variety of mythological characters we have the greek underworld, harpies, celtic goddesses, soulceresses who gain their power from the souls of beings and walk the aether between dimensions, Jinns, millennia old immortal guardians and reincarnated souls to name a few. A new series to whet the appetites of all supernatural junkies.

About 1/3 in I checked to see if this was the author's first book, the writing and flow of the story had the sort of lack of maturity you find in seasoned author's stories. (From what my quick Google search found it is the first) Intriguing plot points of reincarnation, mythology, and hidden wars being waged in the "mortal" realm but everything didn't quite tie together for me. The romance between the leads felt forced through the reincarnation point and forced by how the author seemed to overwrite the sex scenes with sexually charged words. I love dirty words myself but they just didn't fit in that it felt like "Hey, I said cock so this should be a hot and heavy scene on that alone!"

I would be interested if anyone has continued in the series and if the author's writing has matured at all, of course maybe this author's style just might not be for me. The story is tantalizing in its unique feeling.

Well, well, well. Fourth book in the series, and my fangirlism over the Mytheans is still going strong. I don't have much to say about the book, other than the fact it really rocked my world - like the rest of the series, of course. The romance was perfect, with tons of action and well-placed drama, and just the right dose of heat. I adored Fiona from the previous book anyway, but here I simply loved her! Not to mention that her choice in man, Ian, was a really delicious one!Now I can't wait for Loki's book! I'm sure I'm gonna love it just the same, if not more!***I was given an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I love this book! The characters, and even the side characters, were well developed. The story was gripping, and had just the right pace. I love Celtic mythology, so this was a very interesting read. Can't wait to read the second book.

A pleasant mix of history, fantasy, and romance. This novel includes some well-written characters, some hot romance scenes, and a happier ending for Boudica. I love the research that went into the work. This is the first book in a wonderful supernatural series. Perfect for fans of fantasy romance. LT Member Giveaway

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. This is the beginning of a paranormal series about immortal Mytheans. In this story, several different types of Mytheans were introduced. I have always enjoyed mythology and love the references to different cultural myths that are the basis of this story. This is the story of Diana, a modern day professor who is the reincarnate of the Celtic warrior Boudica, and Cadan, a Mythean guardian who loved Boudica during her first life. The story kept me interested and moved at a good pace. I liked how Diana accepted her “Boudica” traits and incorporated them without losing her “Diana” traits as well. I also loved that Cadan fell in love with Diana as her present self. Many secondary characters were introduced but did not overwhelm the story. I am looking forward to reading Warren and Esha's story and learning more about Warren's past.

I received this book as part of a giveaway program through LibraryThing in exchange for a fair and honest review. After a lot of attempts I have finally worked out how to describe this book to myself: it is a guilty pleasure. It is a lusty romantic fantasy based around the idea of an ancient soul (in this case Boudica) being reincarnated to complete her destiny and has the usual trope of a whole hidden supernatural world existing as part of but yet apart from the everyday human world. The reincarnated Boudica (named Diana) discovers this hidden world as her memories of being Boudica surface and the story deals with her struggles to place herself in that world, come to terms with what happened to her as Boudica (including a relationship that is central to the book) and then to complete her destined task while integrating herself as both Boudica and Diana without short changing either. All of this is skilfully handled – I particularly thought the sections dealing with Diana realising that she was not only Boudica were well done.I had quibbles not with how the story was told but with some of the details (how the Scottish accent was portrayed, for example, and some over repeated descriptions on the size of the hero) which kept grating on me and jerking me out of the novel’s world. I was also irritated by the clear setting up of side stories which will obviously be explored in further detail in sequels to this book. I identified three of these – two were glossed over so I assume their sequels are further down the track; one felt like it was in the process of being developed into the next book. As a chronic series reader, I was not only disappointed but resentful of how very blatantly these set ups were performed. I call this book a guilty pleasure because, despite my quibbles and irritations – including that I found the actual story arc predictable – I actually enjoyed this book. It is a book for a spell of self-indulgence as it tells a story in a familiar comfortable style, is easy to read and doesn’t require much thought from the reader.

The story itself was good, and the concept was interesting, but for some reason I had a hard time getting into it. It was a little slow for me. I felt like the pace didn't pick up until the second half of the story.Cadan was a little too controlling, trying to keep Diana from figuring out her past just so he wouldn't lose her again. I liked Diana; she refused to put up with Cadan's controlling ways and found a way to discover the truth. She also turned into a pretty fierce warrior.I was intrigued by Warren and his potential relationship with Esha, so I might give book two, which features their story, a chance.**A free copy was provided by the author via LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review**

There was a nice flow, the characters were nice and although the storyline was interesting I had a hard time staying in it. I can't even really pin down why as I didn't really see any 'faults' it just didn't draw me in and hold me hostage. I really liked one of the supporting characters and wish we would have learned a bit more about her. I AM thinking of reading the next book as it has her as one of the main characters so that is good!* This book was provided free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I won this through booklikes and this is my honest opinion. This was a to-die-for book. The characters were so real and stuck in your mind like glue. They had strong emotions, as well as an everlasting description. The scenery was well written and allowed for a bit of imagination while still setting the story. As for the text itself, there were so many things I loved about it. Sentences were varying in length and style as well as in composition. Varying adjectives and nouns made the text interesting and entertaining to read. The plot was smooth and quick enough for me enjoy the text but slow enough for me to savor the book. Overall the only downside I found was that some of it seemed repetitive. I would rate this book high on the list of books I love.

I have to say this book drew me in right from the beginning and set up future books of the series with seamless ease throughout the story. I believe this author has a hook in her Mythean Arcana that is located in Ediburgh and headquartered at the Mythean University. With the reincarnation of an ancient female warrior, an immortal Mythean guardian, friends in need, puzzles to be untangled, plenty of historical references, ancient gods and goddesses, paranormal individuals with abilities I haven’t seen in books before and even more…this is a book with everything. Everything also includes love that is, ancient, new, hinted at for future books and often steamy. This is a book I would recommend to anyone that would like a well written story with some Celtic, Roman and mythological mention with the interpretation and creativity brought to them by an interesting new to me author. I am definitely interested in reading more of this series!Oh…and the cat in the story…Chairman Meow…what a special creature he and his human are!
