Great action-packed conclusion with a very happy ending! Now to look up the short stories that come with the ebook box set.

So this series for me was always a 3.5-4 and books 1 and 2 were on the upper end so I gave them 4 stars and then books 3 and 4 were on the lower end, which is why I gave them 3 stars. I think for me there were some things that made me lean toward a 3 instead of a 4 (will get to that in a bit).

For the good stuff, I really enjoyed the battle scenes in this book. The plot was more focused on than the romance, which I appreciated, and the climax war wasn't over in like 10 pages haha. Some books do a great job with the build-up and then fall short and I think this one had the build-up and did a good job giving us the battles, seeing Ari switch to her different forms was cool. I appreciated the description of these monsters, how they were created and they fanned out was good, made for a good villain of the story. I wish there would have been a "talk" between Ari and the Queen because she actually never tried to plead her case/explain what happened to her. Did the other vampire who was forced to do these things escape? Could she have explained things? I did like the romance between 3 out of the 4 mates and how they leaned on each other and were very protective. I love when they were close to losing it and their animals were showing haha. One issue I did have was Jett was forgiven way too easily by Ari (in terms of mating). Like I appreciated the guys hold their own with him and give him conditions. I also was annoyed that he was able to coordinate ANOTHER KIDNAPPING. Like this just felt uber repetitive at this point. Like the guys know not to leave her alone and then what do they do....they leave her alone. I just felt like that was the 3rd time by these authors and felt lazy in a sense. Like no one called the guys out for messing up AGAIN?!?! Shook my head at that one a bit.

Narration was the same as the other 3 books, 3.5-4 stars for it from me. I thought the battles were done really well, the anguish by the Queen was palpable and the tension between the 5 was intense when they were confronting Jett. These 2 are already on my automatic listen list and it didnt change after this book.

Overall I did like this series, I would recommend it as long as the reader knows its not a dig your teeth into story that is going to stay with you/force you to keep going. Like don't get me wrong, I did like it, but it wasn't one of my favs I have read/listened to this year. I will say the ending didnt feel like a full ending and I was wondering if these 2 were thinking of doing more in this world. I want to know what happens with the Queen, who is on the council, what happened to the experiments and humans (we know the scientist is locked up which is good). I did enjoy the epilogue but I would have liked to see them all interacting with Jett and getting to see the cohesion more since he wasn't 100% forgiven in book 4 and didnt have a lot of time with Ari in the sense the others did. He definitely got the bad end of the deal, in terms of air time. Overall a 3.5/5 stars from me.
