About this audiobook

Jaunty the Clown just wants to entertain families with lighthearted slapstick antics, but people think of clowns as terrifying, nightmarish creatures who hide in closets or under beds. When Jaunty, along with his fellow performers Guffaw, Wagon, Reginald The Pleasant Clown, and Bluehead are fired from the circus, they're told that the world just doesn't like clowns anymore.

Still, clowns have to eat. And since these clowns don't eat children, to make ends meet they're eventually forced to take a job in a popular haunted attraction, the Mountain of Terror. Instead of charming entertainers, they're now scary clowns. A zombie clown. A demon clown. A creepy doll clown.

But the town is about to discover something more frightening than clowns. Because on opening night, millions of oversized spiders emerge from a cave and begin their deadly invasion . . .

From Bram Stoker Award-nominated author Jeff Strand comes an insane mix of shameless silliness and grisly creepy-crawly horror. Clowns Vs. Spiders. Who will win?

I was amazed that I liked this audiobook so much...the attempts at subtle humor were successful and the narrator brought them home. He was the perfect choice to narrate this book, bringing just the right inflections when needed. There were no real gore drenched depictions but frankly the story didnt need it. The plot flowed wonderfully and the characters were great with their clown honor woren like badges. It is an unique story and worth the listen to. I'm a horror enthusiast and love the gore aspect to horror but for me to love this book that didn't really have that says alot. Go for it you won't be sorry.

This was a lot of fun to listen to and gave me Arachnophobia vibes. I love how this book will probably really scare some people as clowns and spiders are two of the top fears people have. Of course spiders as big as described would definitely make me afraid if those spiders were real. This was a fairly quick listen and again, it was a lot of fun.

I have a phobia when it comes to spiders...but I also love any horror movies or books and love to be scared so being terrified of spiders made this the perfect book. It had the right balance of humor and terror. Listening to it every night before falling asleep had me have nightmares about spiders though. All in all it's a good read.

This book is pretty much what the titles claims it is, a book about clowns fighting spiders. As it's a horror novel, you might assume the clowns are demons, aliens, or deranged killers, but you'd be wrong. The clowns are people who took up clowning as a profession back in the days before everybody decided that clowns are scary. Unfortunately, since these days everybody does think clowns are scary, they are let go from the circus and are forced to take a job playing scary clowns at a haunted house attraction. Then a horde of man-eating spiders attacks. As the book is by Jeff Strand, the plot is even more insane than it sounds, and there's a lot of humor.
