Rocks and a hard place

For many years, I have driven past a particular bank on one of the farms that my friends and I ferret. Imposing, steep and treacherous, it is the sort of bank that you would require a goat-like grip to negotiate its face. Rocks the size of cars are scattered above the fast-flowing river below. It has never been ferreted — I wonder why?
