About this audiobook

Josie Barrett brings out the animal in men. Literally. As the local veterinarian in a town that's approximately seventy percent Others-mostly shapeshifters-Josie deals with beastly situations all the time. It's practically part of her job description. But when the werewolves of Stone Creek, Oregon, start turning downright feral, Josie smells a rat-among other, more dangerous critters.

Teaming up with the ferociously sexy Eli Pace, a full-time sheriff and part-time were-lion, Josie tries to contain the shapeshifting problem before it spreads like a virus. But when more shifters get infected-and stuck in their animal forms-the fur really begins to fly. Josie and Eli have to find the cause, fast, before the whole town goes to the dogs. But first, they have to wrestle with a few animal urges of their own.

Christine Warren

Christine Warren is the New York Times bestselling author of The Others series, including Wolf at the Door, Big Bad Wolf, Born to Be Wild, Prince Charming Doesn’t Live Here, and Black Magic Woman. Born and raised in coastal New England, she now lives as a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. (She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her phobia of being landlocked). When not writing, she enjoys horseback riding, playing with her pets, identifying dogs from photos of their underbellies, concocting all sorts of yummies (both liquid and solid), and, most of all, reading things someone else had to agonize over.

This book was interesting but I must say it really irked me that someone deigned to mess with nature so thoroughly as to mess up a shifter. Seriously? Nothing like a crazy SOB with radical ideals to ruin things. And their attraction to each other was interesting but not as good as in the few Others books that I have read.

hate-crimes, veterinarian, shifters, law-enforcement, suspense I've read several of the books in this series, and this one definitely stands alone. The sheriff (a lion shifter) brings a badly wounded Lupine to the town veterinarian, and then the fur begins to fly. The problems escalate as does the suspense. It's a wild ride to the end!

There's nothing better than a good shifter book. Born To Be Wild is one of them. I really enjoyed this story. It's always nice to have a series that continues to build on the previous installment.

The book does and excellent job of illustrating the unseemly side of human nature and long standing prejudices in history that equate to "man even now still has a long way to go."

The romance between Eli and Josie is sweet and kind of funny as they weave their way through uncharted relationship territory. I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys a good shifter.

I usually love books in this series. This one just seemed very predictable.

When the local sheriff brings her an injured shapeshifter, Stone Creek veterinarian Josie Barrett finds herself hip deep in Other/human relations, domestic terrorism, and love. A solid story with likeable characters and a heroine that more than holds her own.

Well this book was a little bit of a surprise. It isn't set in New York City or Las Vegas. It is set in a small town in Oregon. The book also leaves a number of questions unanswered. I am hoping that I find those answers in a future book. Stone Creek, Oregon is a haven for Others. They live peacefully with the small human population and are very happy with the arrangement. I liked all the characters, both primary and secondary. It was kind of sad that two of the Lupines had to die though. The primary Other in this book is a lion breed alpha, Eli Pace looking for his own pride. The heroine is a vet, Josephine "Josie" Barret. There are some funny moments in the story as well as a few nail biting moments. The story is pretty good over all I just wish the author had take the time to tie up all the knots. Especially since this is the only book she has written about this group of people that the trouble that they deal with.

Fast, fun, easy read. I love Christine Warren and this one falls in line with the rest. I loved how simple the story was. Sometimes books get too complicated and I lose interest before it plays out. That's not the case with this one. I wanted it to go on and on with the same simplicity that it was.

Sheriff/were-lion Eli Pace brings veterinarian Josie Barrett a wounded Lupine who can't seem to heal herself or shift back to human. After the wounded Lupine's mate visits her, he too begins to suffer from the same inability to return to his human shape. Based on what appear to be lab notes that appear at the end of the early chapters, it quickly becomes apparent to the reader that the mysterious ailment has been deliberately created. While the medical mystery aspects were engaging and fast-paced, I was disappointed in how little attention was paid to shifter culture in what is supposedly a majority-shifter town in rural Oregon. Also, although both Josie and Eli are interesting characters, they and their romance are not as well developed as I would have liked. Despite those complaints, it was a fast, fun read. If you're already a Warren fan, you'll probably enjoy it, and if you've never read her before, this could easily be read as a standalone novel.
