About this audiobook

When Regina's friends insist on setting her up a "Fantasy Fix" to help her get over her cheating ex, she dreams up some kinky out-of-this-world encounters that they could never possibly bring to life. But the next thing Regina knows, her friends have got her laced into a shiny black corset, tight leather pants, and a sexy pair of stilettos. It's time for some downtown vampire-fantasy fun...

The Vampire Ball in Manhattan's East Village isn't really Dmitri Vidacirc;me's idea of a good time, but as a member of the Council that governs the Others, he has to keep an eye on all the young vamps who prey on the pretenders. After he feasts his dark eyes on fiery Regina at the bar, he knows that he must have her. But for the first time Dmitri meets a woman who is more than a match for his indomitable will. And he may be the fantasy Regina hoped for...until she-and her feisty friends-discover her sexy new lover's bloodsucking secret.

Christine Warren

Christine Warren is the New York Times bestselling author of The Others series, including Wolf at the Door, Big Bad Wolf, Born to Be Wild, Prince Charming Doesn’t Live Here, and Black Magic Woman. Born and raised in coastal New England, she now lives as a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. (She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her phobia of being landlocked). When not writing, she enjoys horseback riding, playing with her pets, identifying dogs from photos of their underbellies, concocting all sorts of yummies (both liquid and solid), and, most of all, reading things someone else had to agonize over.

This book was steamy sexy and filled with fiery passion that pulled me along at breakneck speed. Definitely something I recommend to everyone!

I like the unique concept of the opening of this book with the fantasy sexual connections. The character, storyline, and plot are just ok but not necessarily memorable. I wasn't expecting this since it was promoted as a paranormal romance, but the book is an erotica romance novel with sub/dom interactions and a little bdsm.

As a female, I am a disturbed by the main character telling her lover "No" and "Stop" and the male forcefully refusing to cease his conquest. Can we say rape? Yet the main female lead doesn't address the forced intercourse because she's in post coital bliss. This is sending young females the message of one of two things: either men won't stop if you tell them "no" and the sex is so good that you won't want to report the rape or it's ok to say "no" during sex as long as it is part of a fantasy act -- it sends the wrong message either way. No means No. It is socially irresponsible for a writer to promote such hipocracy that will only encourage females to send wrong messages to their peers and even men. As a mom of two teen boys, it's the mixed messages it sends to males that bothers me the most. How are vulnerable females or even males to be protected when we promote such disgraceful acts as positive literature? I know this is simply a story about a fantasy erotica romance however, we are all accountable for our actions and we are all socially responsible for what we do, say, or type and release to the world. If the main character's fantasy was to be raped, then I would have expected to have had some dialogue regarding such preceeding the act as well as a signed contract between the pair. Rape should always be portrayed in a negative light - there is no beauty or sexual bliss in the act for the receiver when the act is not consentual for both parties.

Regina is definitely NOT my kind of heroine - she is a closet submissive who, despite her claims of independence, allows her friends to bully her and her lover to manipulate and control her. Dmitri is your typical alpha male with no real characterization.

The world building is virtually non-existent with some hints about a council of some kind and cooperation between vampires and shapeshifters. The suspense plot is underdeveloped and when the resolution comes around it is complete in less that one chapter.

If I hadn't read a couple of books later in the series and I didn't know that the world building and plots improve, I wouldn't bother continuing.

Read this as it's previous incarnation of Fantasy Fix. I really dislike it when an older book is re-issued with a different title. I think that's misleading.

Really weak, really lame. I actually read it, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Only marginally interesting

Love this when I first read it a few years ago.

    Now I'm listening to audiobook.

Didn't like the narrator. She did a good job with Misha's voice, but that was it. I could only handle about two hours before she drove me crazy. DNF audiobook.

This is a rewritten version of the first book in the Others series. I had forgotten that Domination and Submission was major part of this story. Vampire stories have to have some amount of D/s for them to be enjoyable as far as I am concerned. All the really good vampire stories that I have read have had strong elements of D/s in them. Dmitri and Regina are a perfect couple and come together in an unexpected way. I loved this book when I first read it nine years ago and I love it just as much today. Ms Warren writes some very steamy, window fogging over sex for this story. I was glad that she didn't try to cool that part of the story down. There is only a small amount of suspense in the story and it is solved with little fan fare. I definitely recommend the story for all those paranormal fans out there.

Just finished this book today. Although the book wasn't bad, it wasn't what I expected. The plot seemed stretched beyond belief, and the woman Reggie seemed not altogether there to me. I just couldn't connect with the characters in this book. I usually enjoy Christine Warrens books but this one just didn't do it for me. I think my favorite part of the book was Reggies girlfriends. They were funny and I loved thier loyalty to her. I also liked the part where they go and try to rescue her, but beyond that the rest of the book was so so.

Yep. "One Bite With a Stranger" is the retitled version of "Fantasy Fix", an early title by Christine Warren (Ellora's Cave, 2003). For those of you who weren't willing to pay the $40 most sharks were charging for the few copies available, now you can just pick up this book and you'll have the same story.Regina and her buds were drunk when they came up with 'Fantasy Fix'--where each of them puts their heads and acquaintances together in an effort to fulfill the fantasies of one of their number. Regina had managed to avoid being 'fixed' while she was with Greg, but now that he's been gone for six months, her friends decide it's her turn. In an effort to get even, she tries to make her fantasies impossible to fill...sex with the real Elvis, Bigfoot, an alien, or a vampire. Oh, and to be mastered! Did nobody ever tell Regina to be careful of what you ask for?Dmitri is a member of the Council of Others, a very important and filthy rich vampire...and bored. Until he looks across the smoky bar and sees Regina. Unfortunately, it's been so long since Dmitri has had to put any effort into wooing, he makes a few mistakes (major understatement). If you don't laugh while reading Dmitri and Regina's story...you need to see a shrink. And don't forget your chilled drink, this is a hot one!!!
