About this audiobook

He's meant to protect her, but what is this cowboy keeping from her about the danger she's facing? As the daughter of a presidential candidate, Cassidy Hamilton left the Montana family ranch to escape notoriety and live her own life. But when someone tries to abduct her off a Houston sidewalk, Cassidy finds protection in the tall, dark and sexy form of cowboy Jack Durand. The gorgeous Texan doesn't recognize her, wants nothing from her and is determined to keep her safe. Jack hates keeping secrets from the beautiful Cassidy, but he knows more about her kidnapping attempt than he's admitting. Forced on the run, Jack and Cassidy begin piecing together a jagged family puzzle, exposing a plot years in the making-one that will either tear them apart or bring them closer together than ever.

4.5 "Love on the Run" Stars for the story and narration!Lovers of romantic suspense titles with sexy cowboy heroes will not want to miss BJ Daniels' The Montana Hamiltons Series. Book 5 in the series, Into Dust, continues the romantic suspense and romance arc (between Buck Hamilton, now a presidential candidate, and his first wife, Sarah, and the mother of his six daughters) that spans the entire series and also introduces a potential love match between Cassidy Hamilton, one of Sarah's and Buck's daughters, and Jack Durand, the son of one of The Prophecy's (a secret revolutionary group) members that is central to the overarching suspense plot. There is also an intersecting plot involving Sheriff Frank Curry that carries over from BJ Daniels' Beartooth Montana Series.Because the romantic suspense arc spans the entire series, however, please note that this series must be read in chronological order to understand the entire underlying plot. Additionally, given the secondary suspense plot involving Sheriff Curry, it is also helpful to have some familiarity with the Beartooth Montana Series. Also, this is not the last book in The Montana Hamiltons series (the 6th and last book was released in October of last year), so if you want the entire story, you will need to continue listening to this series. Fortunately, for audiobook lovers, Graham Winton narrates the entire series, and his pleasing cowboy appropriate voice, makes this a natural title to enjoy in audiobook format. When Jack Durand catches his father in a clandestine meeting at his mother's gravesite (a place his father never visits) and sees money exchanging hands, he knows he has to get to the bottom of what his father is up to. Little could he imagine that it involves Cassidy Hamilton. Being the alpha cowboy gentleman that he is, however, once knowing of the danger she is facing, Jack takes it upon himself to protect Cassidy, saving her from a kidnapping attempt. However, his protection is not without its secrets as he does choose to cover up that he knows that his father is involved (even if he doesn't know why his father is involved). Knowing that someone has tried to abduct her, Cassidy decides to put her trust in a stranger--one which she soon finds herself interested in for more than just protection. Jack comes through in his promises to help Cassidy evade danger by helping keep her under the radar for a while, but continues to hide his father's involvement. Can there possibly be a HEA in the cards once Cassidy finds out what Jack has been hiding? Moreover, once the mystery begins to unravel and reveals a conspiracy with deeper ties than anyone can possibly imagine, the seriousness of their situation and potential threat to both characters reaches a pinnacle. Can Jack and Cassidy together use their sleuthing skills to figure out all the details, including a way out of the threat, before one or both of them is seriously hurt?Graham Winton delivers a solid narration in Into Dust. With a natural voice that makes you envision cowboys, and strong, alpha Western heroes, Mr. Winton nails the voice of Jack and several of the other male characters in Into Dust. His narration of the female parts bares a slightly higher pitch which allows for differentiation between the females and males. Additionally, Mr. Winton's timing is appropriate for easy understanding of both the tone and mood of the scenes as well as the narrative and dialogues being shared. All in all, Western romantic suspense lovers are in for a family saga treat (somewhat like a favorite, soap opera) involving politics, revolutionary plots, ranchers, and interesting family relationships with The Montana Hamiltons. Moreover, if you have already read the prior books in this series, Into Dust is a must listen, as this book reaches a crucial point in the underlying suspense arc of the entire series with a number of secrets regarding Sarah Hamilton finally being revealed. Now I can't wait to uncover the whole truth in Honor Bound, the conclusion to this series.Source: Review copy provided for review purposes.

Another very good entry into the Montana Hamiltons series. This one centers on Cassidy, one of the twin sisters who are the youngest of the family. She has been staying as far away from her father's campaign for president as she possibly can. While walking to visit friends, she is attacked and nearly kidnapped. If not for the action of a passerby, she would have been in trouble.Jack was not exactly there by chance. While visiting his mother's grave, he had seen his father hand cash to a suspicious looking man. Worried about what his father was mixed up in, he followed the man, and was there to see him attempt to kidnap a young woman. Jack rushes in to save her, and determined to keep her safe, they go together to see if Jack can discover what his father is up to. What they find out is that Jack's dad isn't who he thought he was, and was mixed up with Cassidy's mom years ago.As Jack and Cassidy try to evade the people who are after them, the sparks fly between them. The intensity of the danger they are in draws them closer together. I liked the support they gave each other as they learned more about what their parents were/are involved in. Their love happens quickly, but all does not go smoothly. They are captured twice, and the second time separates them for what seems like forever. Though they do come back together, because of the actions of Prophecy members, they don't remember each other. The romance part of the story felt unfinished because of it. I hope the next book gives them their HEA.The series storyline, involving Sarah Hamilton's apparent return from the dead, continues to reveal new bits of information. More members of the group, The Prophecy, are introduced and their fanaticism exposed. There are some truly nasty people at work and it still hasn't been revealed just what their plan is. As Sarah regains some of her memories, she is more certain she wants no part of what they have planned. But because of threats to her family, she is forced to comply with their demands. It will be very interesting to see how this all works out in the end. There was also some time spent with Sheriff Frank Curry and his wife Nettie. Frank is still dealing with the psychopathic young woman who is bent on killing him. We get more evidence of just how evil she is and her determination to have her revenge. I really thought she was going to succeed this time, but all worked out for the best.I'm really looking forward to the next book and seeing what everyone does.
