About this audiobook

Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges . . .

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever—especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her . . .

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity . . .

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust—the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity . . .

How can I say how much I LOVED Twice Tempted. I have been anxiously waiting for this book ever since I read Once Burned. Vlad and Leila are just explosive together. I adored both characters, there were so many unique qualities about them both, that just made them perfect for each other. We see how desperately they really need each other. Vlad is just HOT and sexy beyond imagination....very *drool worthy* if I say so myself. He is so ALPHA, and has a commanding presence, and he loves control, and hates disobedience. So of course he would be drawn to Leila who would defy him right? Leila is a very strong willed woman, but not overly strong. She doesn't start out as a fighter, she she does have a more gently side but she can be a fierce fighter when the need arises. I loved how she strives to be There was a variety of intense emotions that are displayed throughout the whole story, so vividly portrayed in such a way that is unique to the author and her writing. I also loved seeing Vlad and Leila grow stronger together in their relationship. I have to say though, one of the many things I like about this authors books, is that she always surprises me when I least expect it. There were certain things that occur in this book, where my eyes popped wide open in surprise, never expecting certain things to happen. So it was a delight to be surprised and be taken on such a exciting ride of passion, danger and intrigue. I found Twice Tempted to be a intense story that charmed me with every page. A must read for anyone that enjoys a thrilling romance that will knock your socks off!! Top of my list of favorites!! FANTASTIC!!

I am a huge fan of Jeaniene Frost and this was the third book I have read of hers, I love paranormal romance and the Night Prince series has everything you could want from a paranormal romance book.

Again this book is written from Leila’s point of view and there is some sexual content in the book however all of that was in context with the actual story.

This book starts where the other left off so nothing is missing, the author does make a point of letting those that haven’t read book 1 know who the characters are and what they do so a nice little recap for those that have waited a while to continue the series.

We start this book with Leila still not being able to use her powers, but she is also untouchable by fire. The problem with this is that in her mind she is not useful to Vlad anymore and when a dinner party turns wrong she breaks up with him and leaves.

Escorted by Maximus she goes home to discover that another girl has got her gig. Determined that she can make it out on her own she hangs around for a bit hoping to sell off some of her things and then tragedy strikes at the carnival with a huge gas explosion. Thinking her best friend Marty has been killed outright she is distraught and heads off to the next safe place with Maximus.
But Maximus has a little plan of his own, he tells Leila that it may have been Vlad that caused the explosion as she left him. This was all a way for Maximus to get closer to Leila, which he wanted to do from day one but Leila was not interested in him, only Vlad.

Meanwhile Leila is having dreams of Vlad, although she doesn’t know it yet her powers are coming back.
While Maximus is trying his best to keep Leila safe in a hotel room, guns start shooting and Leila and Maximus is captured.

It seems someone else is not happy with the Leila/Vlad situation and wants to rectify that situation.
I am not going to spoil it for you though so if you want to know what else happens you should definitely read this.
A lot of changes happen in this book and trust me you will love it especially of you like vampire reads!

Again I was hooked from the start and I lost myself in the book completely.
Another fantastic book from the lovely Jeaniene Frost.

I had a good time with this book! After my re-read of the first book in the Night Prince series, Once Burned, I have been very eager to read this book. It turns out that like the first book, I didn't remember this story despite the fact that I have already read it. That is bad for my memory but good for the experience of reading this book since it was like reading this book for the first time. I really enjoyed my time with this book.Leila and Vlad survived the events of the last book but things seem a bit different. Leila has lost her abilities and Vlad seems distant. There is a bit of a misunderstanding that becomes the breaking point and Leila leaves. I have to admit that I really like Leila and Vlad together so the time that they were apart in this book wasn't quite as enjoyable for me. Things are still pretty exciting while Leila is away and it seems that danger must be following her. Of course, Vlad happens to be a pretty good problem solver.I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Vlad and Leila develop over the course of this book. They learn a lot about each other in this installment and there are a lot of pretty big developments. I really liked seeing the ups and downs between them and thought that it made their relationship seem a lot more realistic. I really do think that they are good together and love how they seem to understand each other. Tavia Gilbert does a fantastic job with the narration. I love the voices that she uses for all of the characters and how she is able to put a lot of emotion into her reading. The story really comes to life with her narration and I found myself listening to this book for hours at a time. I believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.I would recommend this series to others. I do believe that this series should be read in order since the events of this book build off the previous installment. It would be ideal to be up to date with all the books in the Night Huntress universe but not absolutely necessary. I look forward to reading the next book in the series very soon!

I loved this book. I felt like Frost brought both Vlad and Leila's characters a long way in this book. On top of that, the romance was so good. Vlad opens up to Leila and we get to see a softer side. Probably my favorite thing about the book (and most any Frost book) is the humor in unexpected places. There was one particular line where Leila was comparing herself to Gollum that had me laughing out loud. It was kinda subtle at first and then it hit me and it was the most hilarious line. I want more Vlad and Leila but I'm ready to get back to Cat and Bones. I miss them. In the meantime, if you haven't started this series - start it now! Especially if you're any kind of paranormal romance fan.

Twice Tempted by Jeaniene FrostNight Prince series, book 2. You should read the prior book for the best context. This book travels far in terms of changes for Leila. At first Leila thinks Vlad is going to propose but when that doesn’t happen, she walks away from him. An attempt is made on her life and then events are happening fast and spinning out of control. Often bloody and violent, the story is full of vampires making their own lives important, even if at the cost of others. But like life, there is good with the bad.I look forward to reading more of this series because: CLIFFHANGER!I alternated between a paperback and audio version narrated by Tavia Gilbert. Tavia does a fantastic job alternating between voices and empathizing passion and anxiety.

It had been awhile since I'd read the first in this series but it was pretty easy to jump right in. I did think the first few scenes were a badly executed plot device to drive a wedge between the two main character. I think it could have been handled a little differently. Leila knows who she is involved with and somehow she still keeps expecting the guy to act like every other human man for that matter.

I also found the angst a little too much by the end. I enjoyed Leila kicking butt and the sensual scenes were well written and STEAMY.

Broken hearted from Vlad’s inability to admit his feelings for her, Leila realizes that the time has come to get on with her life without him. Unfortunately, a dangerous and determined enemy with ties very close to home has other plans for Leila and she will have to decide once and for all who she can and cannot trust …

A very entertaining sequel although it is missing that special something that made the first book so incredible.

Vlad and Leila’s romance is going through a rough patch. He is having a tough time accepting not only the depth of his love for Leila, but also the fact that she is not willing to wait around for him to come to his senses. Although Leila has tendency toward rushing to judgment and her moments of doubt in Vlad are slightly annoying, it is, nonetheless, impossible not to admire her tenacity and backbone when standing up to him - he IS Vlad the Impaler after all!

The insights into Vlad’s traumatic and violent past as well as the developments in Leila’s character as she learns to harness her electrical powers and expand her psychic abilities takes their relationship one step further and reinforces the fact that they are a perfect match.

The mystery surrounding the identity of the person who has it in for Leila and the reasons for their attacks on her makes for exciting reading. There are some surprising revelations, such as the lengths Maximus will go to, to have Leila for himself not to mention Shrapnel’s betrayal. The cameos appearances by other Night Huntress characters are brief but fun, and I like the way that Frost has merged the two series.

Tavia Gilbert narration is enjoyable and she is really good at portraying the tension and excitement of Vlad and Leila's relationship.

All in all, a satisfying addition to the series and I’m looking forward to the next installment in 2015.

Vlad, my sexy hunk of vampire man, you had me long before you engulfed yourself in flames. I loved you when you only had the power to impale people. You story has captivated me for as long as I can remember. This new updated you, the one with flaming skills, in the bedroom as well as outside has driven my Vlad obsession to a new high. Your hard cold heart, still for so long, has only known loneliness and betrayal. Finally, it is warmed with this woman. She is wonderful Vlad, a bit naive yes, but she does not weaken at your sins. The horrors she will have to endure, to live with you in your world may undo her. I wept for her when she walked out that door. I wept for you too, knowing what you were giving up. I know you Vlad you are an old romantic at heart, somewhere down really deep. If things don't work out between the two of you, you know where to find me. bring the ring. [wink]

yes, I loved the book. i could not stop reading, my kids suffered, my dogs went walkless and I got readers elbow from holding the book so tightly. I love this Vlad character, he is just enough of everything. It was pure fun entertainment that hit all my reader fun bells. The moment I finished I wanted to re-read it, which put's it on my 5 star list.

This one was better than Once Bitten (Burned?), but this storyline is not my favorite. Oddly enough I liked Vlad a lot more in this book and Leila a lot less. I think we got to better understand why Vlad is so controlling and just, well, a freak in a relationship. Leila is an idiot. She doesn't learn. Ever, evidently. She's one of those annoying heroines that goes charging into situations without forethought and planning and any type of risk/benefit analysis. Some impetuosity is good for the soul, but this is just reckless and endangers everyone around her--especially Vlad. At one point in this book he threatens to lock her up in his house to stop her from going and doing crazy and outrageous things. And I hate threats like that, but in this instance, I stood up and cheered wildly for Vlad. There's a great scene in this book that I think really demonstrates why their relationship is kind of messed up. He says she must be the cruelest woman that's ever lived... because, since she's not thinking at all, she missing the parallel to what she wants to do to "help" with the most tragic event in his romantic life.

In my review of the first book, I said I didn't like their power imbalance. He just seemed too much. Too controlling, too everything. In this book, it's still present, but I started to understand that the power imbalance is less about his control-freakishness and more about their relative maturity levels. As in, she's not. At all.

Generally, she's sweet to him when things are calm, and I can see why he's attracted to her, but I think in real life (snigger, with, you know the vampires who live next door to me and can set things on fire and day walk... lololol) their relationship would never ever ever last. They're not well-matched.

All of that said, it's still a tremendously well-written Frost book in that universe (mildly) and fun to read the action and solve the mystery. If you like the Night Huntress series, then do it. If you were getting tired out on it, I'd skip this whole Night Prince spinoff.

I'm not even going to try remembering to how spell the bad guy's name, but let's just say this: he didn't die in the explosion from the last book. No big surprise there. But he's not the obvious enemy here. Vlad himself is his own obstacle in having Leila in his life. If only he could get over his past and admit to her and to himself that he loves her, all will be fine, but nooooo, God forbid he puts himself out there. Men.
So when her RV explodes after leaving him and she's presumed dead, she doesn't expect Vlad to be broken over it, or try to find her and help her once he learns she survived.
I think the only thing that prevented me from giving this one 5 stars is predictability in many places. It's still Vlad, though, so it's awesome. Fun read, for sure.

Review originally posted on My Urban FantasiesVlad is back! It's been a couple of months since Once Burned. Leila is still living with Vlad. Unfortunately for Leila not much else has changed. Vlad still refuses to admit he loves Leila. Leila is worried about her powers coming back, but that pales in comparison to her worries about Vlad. Her heart can no longer handle Vlad's cold and distant behavior. The time has come for Leila to make a choice. Stay with Vlad who refuses to admit he loves her or spend the rest of her life without the man she loves most. Twice Tempted is fast-paced, action packed and an emotional roller coaster. The first 22 chapters show Vlad's other persona. Not the relaxed Vlad from the Night Huntress series. We see Vlad the ruler, who is a constant arrogant jackass. Although it's not my favorite side of Vlad, it was nice to see how he's forced to act around other vampires and his people.I feel a little sorry for Leila in this book. It takes her so long to realize the Vlad has to act a certain way when other people are around and that her actions are a direct reflection upon him. It completely sucks, but hey living in a castle comes with a particular set of rules. I love the compromise she found. Leila manages to keep who she is without compromising the safety that Vlad spent his entire undead life working for.I can't wait for the next book in this stellar series. As always, I will be impatiently waiting.

Another great book by Jeaniene Frost. Lots of action and suspense. Vlad is so sexy. I'm so glad he's got his own series. And I like Leila too, even if she can be just as bullheaded at Cat, lol. These women just love to get themselves in trouble. But I guess it's okay when you got seriously pissed off husbands who will come for you no matter what. Loved it! Can't wait for the next one!

I'm right in between the it was OK and it was good, but leaning towards OK. I like Vlad less in this book. His violence used to seem for betrayal of a dangerous nature. Here I feel a lot of his pettiness was more jealousy and control driven. Yes, he always has been controlling but here it was petty and never explained with reason, just emotion. I get it on the "am a he-man, hear me roar but..." What he does to Leila and hers is unacceptable. I really dislike him (I loved him throughout the Cat & Bones books but he is a total wanker now) and I think Leila to be a weak willed ninny to accept him as is.

OK, the background story is pretty good but this is mainly a story of Vlad and Leila romance. So the main romance, they break up because of Vlad's poor behavior. Then Leila is targeted by an enemy of Vlad's. Vlad comes to the rescue. Vlad breaks his word (torture is torture whether it is light or heavy) This is in reference to Maximus. Leila gets over his betrayal because of love. Yippy! Love conquers all (NOT). This is a paranormal romance and the romance is not so great.

To me romances are better told in 3rd person. This is told in 1st person which is one sided. Since there is a lot of problems in the relationship throughout the whole book, the one sidedness made me hate the relationship. Maybe if Vlad's reasonings were told from his point of view... So instead, Vlad is a control freak that does not keep his word and Leila is a weak ninny when it comes to him and her feelings.

I liked the ending and the story line, just didn't like the romance. It does once again end with a little of a unanswered question but not too bad. The same bad guy from the first book, whom they thought might still be alive, turns out that he is. Uh... I assumed that from book 1 so no surprise there. Still it is not the real story of the book, that is completed with the bad guys caught and getting their just deserts.

So... I don't know if I'll keep on reading this spin off or not. I really like the Nighthuntress and Nighthuntress World but so far Night Prince is a disappointment. Since it does not seem to have much of a overlap, I think I could skip it.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:I love Cat and Bones, but Vlad and his leading lady... Mmmm, mmm, mmmm! Simply incredible!Book #2 of the NIGHT PRINCE series picks up where Once Burned left off, but focuses on the tension filled relationship between Leila and Vlad. He has everything to offer her and is willing to give it all, except the one thing that she wants above all else, his love.Leila is an incredible heroine. She's strong, confident, not willing to settle, and above all, she's not perfect... she has many faults, but they make her who she is and that's precisely why I love her.Vlad is one of my favorite heroes. He's cocky, ruthless, powerful and sexy as all get out. His insistence that he can't ever give Leila the love that she wants makes for a very tension filled tale in this installment, but also creates an amazing opportunity for character growth of our hero. It was wonderful read.I adored this book, easily give it 5 Skulls, definitely recommend it, and can't wait for the final book of the trilogy. The next Night Huntress book teaser at the end was very welcome as well. :)

When will people learn that double-crossing the Dark Prince is not a smart move? Apparently, there are idiots aplenty who still haven't learned that lesson, and, with some encouragement from Vlad's arch-enemy, they use Leila to get to him. Vlad, who is so stubborn that he refuses to admit that he loves Leila, incomprehensibly (to him, anyway) loses her when she walks out after he offers her eternal life without eternal love. This of course puts her immediately into harm's way, and after nearly losing her permanently, Vlad finally owns up to his feelings. But who is the traitor in the midst of Vlad's most trusted guards? No one will escape unchanged in some way. The only complaint I have is that the book ended extremely abruptly. It is a definite set-up for the third and final installment in the trilogy, which I definitely look forward to.

Leila's moving out. It doesn't matter that her centuries old lover is Vlad the Impaler, that he's got a control streak a mile wide, or even that her psychic abilities have been failing since he coated her in an aura of fire-proofing (and kept her from charring into a seriously crispy corpse). What does matter is is that he can't - or won't - say he loves her. Turn her into a vampire, yes. Propose, no. But going back to the circus isn't exactly the option Leila thought it would be. Someone's stalking her with an intent to kill, and the only one who can help may be the very monster she just left behind...For my money, Leila and Vlad make a more interesting couple than Cat and Bones.

This action-packed and emotion-packed Night Prince novel has Leila and Vlad working on their relationship while an old girlfriend in trying to sabotage it. When Vlad offers to make her a vampire and a member of his line instead of proposing, Leila is so hurt that she is determined to leave him. He lets her go leaving her even more heart-broken and confirming for her that the relationship isn't going anywhere. She runs back to her friend Marty and the carnie life only to learn that he has taken on a new assistant. Following on the heels of that discovery, someone plants a bomb the destroys Marty's trailer and a lot of the surrounding landscape too. Leila survives because she is still fireproof which was a consequence of her relationship with Vlad. She believes Marty is dead and is determined to avenge his death. Only Maximus, one of Vlad's close companions, suggests that the explosion might have been caused by Vlad to punish her because she left him. Maximus does have an ulterior motive -- he wants Leila as his lover. But his suggestion is enough to give Leila doubts. When Maximus is shot with liquid silver and both are kidnapped by vampires who have been hired to deliver Leila to someone unknown, Vlad manages to track her down and return her to his home. Her attempts to protect Maximus and track down the perpetrator of the bombing and her kidnapping causes her to overuse her powers and almost die. Vlad's determination to save her gives her a better idea of how much he wants her in his life. They marry and then the adjustment period begins between Vlad who wants to protect Leila at all costs and Leila who wants to protect Vlad and be his equal partner. When Leila's further investigations kill her, Vlad is there to bring her back as a vampire so that they can be together forever. And, together, they overcome this villain only to find out that she was not acting alone...I can't wait to find out what happens next both in Vlad and Leila's relationship and in their determination to finally end Vlad's ancient enemy. This story was great urban fantasy and a great romance too.

When Leila's lover Vlad (yes as in Vlad Dracul) presents her with a ring box at a lavish dinner, she assumes what any red blooded girl would think. Can you smell the organge blossoms? But Vlad is really offering to turn her into a vampire. In a rage, Leila leaves to return to her former life as a carnival performer. But she can't escape her association with Vlad or her own powers. There are people, well sort of people, out there who want her dead. After a couple of close calls she is back in Vlad's protection and his arms. OMG, I just love Vlad. He is a creepy, souless hunk of burning love. And I really like Leila, even though she is reckless and quick tempered. Hmmm, maybe that is why I like her. Anyway, there is a cameo of Cat which is fun too. Now I need to get back to the Night Huntress series. Hopefully, Vlad will be appearing there.

3.5 starsSo, here's the thing. I really like Jeaniene's a)writing b)characters c)chemistry d)dialogue; usually that's enough for me without ever having to stray into icky issues like themes and morals and symbolism. This is one of the exceptions. ********* Spoiler Alert****************Pretty much the bottom line of every recent Ms. Frost book can be summed down to: A woman has to accept and embrace her man's need to brutally torture people. This for me is just a small step up in eye-rolling-inducement potential to the theme: a clumsy self sacrificing virgin can change the personality of a psycho-controlling-megalomaniac (I’ve seen this in action, doesn’t work, they call girls like that doormats for a reason people). Don’t get me wrong, I can embrace and enjoy the icky feelings, but torture? Seriously? Also, it just doesn’t work with Leila’s personality, she automatically likes people, feels compassion for people, yeah, she defends herself… but she’s repulsed by the brutality. And then in the end she’s like, “I hope you have a pole with her name on it’? Nah. It just felt like one of the girlfriends (wives) that embrace her man’s values and lose their own at the drop of a hat. And Leila isn’t supposed to be a doormat.

This is the second book in the Night Prince series featuring Vlad and Leila. This book picks up pretty much right after where the first book, Once Burned, left off. This is a planned trilogy with the third book as yet being untitled. I liked this book the same amount as the first one. I loved reading about Vlad but found that the plot wasn’t all that solid.I listened to this on audiobook, the audiobook is very well done. The narrator, Tavia Gilbert, is the same narrator that has done all the Night Huntress audiobooks as well. She does an excellent job conveying character emotion and distinguishing between character voices. I highly recommend listening to any of the Night Price or Night Huntress books on audiobook.Leila’s psychic abilities are failing her and Vlad is more distant than ever. When Vlad declares that he can never love her, she decides to cut her losses and leave him. Unfortunately for her as soon as she leaves him someone tries to kill her. The news of this sends Vlad into a furious rage. Leila is determined to find her killer and ensure her family’s safety while Vlad is determined to find Leila.I was a bit frustrated with Leila’s character she is sooo dense, immature, and whiny when it comes to Vlad. She continually says she accepts him for who he is, but then she leaves him because she can’t accept who he is. Vlad is kind of his typical self; controlling and conniving but minus the humor that I loved so much in his characters in previous books. I felt like throughout this whole book Leila and Vlad had the same relationship problems over and over...they didn’t grow a ton as a couple.I also still have some trouble with Leila’s “I got struck by lightening and am now full of electricity and psychic” backstory. It just seems very contrived and unbelievable to me. There also isn’t a huge plot here, basically Leila almost gets killed when she leaves Vlad and her and Vlad have to figure out who is behind the attempt. This is a very romancey paranormal romance. Most of the book focuses on Leila and Vlad and their tumultuous path to a stable-ish relationship. There are some fun and surprising twists to the story that should keep the reader engaged. The love scenes between Leila and Vlad are decently done. Leila is a lot more fiery than in the last book and makes a good challenge for Vlad. The way she stands up to him when no one else will makes her a good match for him. I did enjoy hearing about Vald’s past. The story is engaging enough, there are a couple of cameos of Cat. So it was good to see her again, albeit very briefly. The book ends on a pretty big cliffhanger with not much resolved, so I always find that kind of annoying.Overall an okay read. The plot for these books is more sparse than that in the Night Huntress novels. Most of the book focuses on Leila and Vlad’s tumultuous relationship. There is a small plot focused on trying to find out who tries to kill Leila early on in the story, but it definitely isn’t some huge and involved complicated plot. I would recommend this book to fans of the NIght Huntress series to to those who love very romancey paranormal romances.

Well, let’s just say that my thoughts on the matter are a resounding YES! Correction, make that a HELL YES! There’s great character growth on both the Vlad and Leila fronts, the pacing and action are fan-freaking-tastic and, the sex scenes are some of the best that Jeanine has ever written.Going into this novel my thoughts were abuzz with all things Vlad so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Leila’s POV in Twice Tempted. In the earlier chapters of this book she ends up going off on her own after a spat with Tepesh and this allows readers to spend some quality time with just her. I loved how she stuck to her guns, refused to settle and actually had the courage to walk away from Vlad. I also like how contrary her character is; she’s capable of wielding immense power and yet, she’s still only human. One minute she’s suffering a nosebleed from using her telekinetic abilities too much and the next, she’s giving Dracula a run for his money in the scary don’t-mess-with-me department.Vlad is absolutely fabulous in this installment and the fact that Jeaniene only gives us brief glimpses of him early on made my anticipation all the more torturous. I was a little disappointed by how quickly he gave into Leila’s demands but then again, when you’re centuries old you tend to know what you want. I was happy with how Frost developed his character because even though he does own up to his feelings, they in no way diminish his alpha male status. He’s still Vlad the Impaler. No question about it.The story is entertaining with plenty of intrigue that’s sure to keep you reading late into the night. And if that doesn’t do it, long time fans of Jeaniene Frost have anxiously been waiting for her to top the infamous chapter 32 and yes, she’s finally done it! I also loved Cat’s cameo in this book; it was cute and managed to capture her character’s mischievous nature in only a couple of sentences.I can’t believe that I’ve been waiting 9 months for more Vlad and that already, a day after Twice Tempted’s release, I’m stuck waiting some more! This book has it all in spades: gory action, fiery romance and exquisite storytelling. This is vampire fiction at its finest.
