- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I don’t think this author has heard of the old writing adage, “show, don’t tell.” The plot was simple enough for a romcom, but the writing was so bland.
The narrator used an American accent, except for dialogue, when she used abysmal English and Italian accents. If the book’s protagonist is British, and all the jargon and colloquialisms are British, having an American narrator creates dissonance and totally pulls the reader out of the story. Well, it did for me at least.
