About this audiobook

“Do you know how to get to the rose garden?”
“No, you can’t go there. A monster lives there.”

Shaw Hollander is desperate.
Broke, unemployed, and determined to help his ailing mother, he falls on the good graces of a wealthy benefactor who is willing to give Shaw a job at his mansion in order to pay off his mother’s debts. Suddenly finding himself surrounded by lavish riches, he has no idea what his duties truly entail until he’s sent to the rose garden and meets the tragically mutilated Isobel.

This Beauty and the Beast story holds true to the core of the fable while shaking off the element of fantasy and dragging it into present-day reality. Shaw and Isobel are ready to let you climb into their four-wheel-drive pickup and take a ride with them into their version of happily ever after, but only if you first dare to gaze upon the monster among the roses.

Editor's Note

New Adult Fairy Tale...

Kage launches her “Fairy Tale Quartet” series with a New Adult take on Beauty and the Beast. A down on his luck twentysomething will do anything to help his struggling mom, and takes a job as a companion to a damaged — both physically and emotionally — woman. It’s fraught with angst while also delivering an HEA.

I loved this story. It made me cry, and smile. The last few chapters I couldn’t wait to listen to… I was bothered to have to wait until after dinner.

I like the part when Isabel went to get the old mirror and Shaw learned the truth of why Isabel doesn’t want to see him anymore, made me cry?. Another beautiful love story♥️.

This is such a good story. Funny, sexy (a little bit) and quite tear jerking in one part.

While the story was nice, I rather prefer Alpha male MC's. All-in-all it was a great, modern, adult spin on a childhood fairy tale.

Love this author and book! Don’t let the beauty and the beast theme scare you it is an original for sure!

This was a surprising Beauty and the Beast twerking. Gender swapped and brought into contemporary time. It was different enough and I love a hero with honor.

I loved the voice and reading of the narrator. The plot it is just so cheesy and imposible that I kept listening because I like the sound of that voice in the background.

This had a surprisingly wholesome and unproblematic male mc who seemed actually great. I was expecting it to be more cheesy and unnecessarily dramatic. Also, I definitely didn't expect for this book to make me cry. That almost never happens and took me by surprise. This was far better than I had anticipated and one of the best romance novels I've listened to in a while.

I liked both of these. I listened to them out of order, but it didn't matter. I personally wish the writer had given the point of view from both main characters in both books. In this particular case, it would have been more interesting. They were still good stories though.

Loved it! I didnt realise it would be from a males point if view, but it was actually refreshing to have a Beauty and the Beast roles reversed. I loved the humour, and his sweet and caring nature. Enjoyed this book throughly.

Good read, I like the switched roles from Beauty and the Beast. But it was so slow, still interesting but they could have gotten together 10 chapters sooner.

4 stars The author doesn’t have the ability to get to the point, however, the story surprisingly evolved into a heartbreakingly beautiful story which made me cry. Didn’t like the rest of the series.
