“A MASTERPIECE OF THRILLER AND MYSTERY. Blake Pierce did a magnificent job developing characters with a psychological side so well described that we feel inside their minds, follow their fears and cheer for their success. Full of twists, this book will keep you awake until the turn of the last page.”

HER LAST CHANCE (A Rachel Gift FBI Suspense Thriller—Book 2) is book #2 in a long-anticipated new series by #1 bestseller and USA Today bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose bestseller Once Gone (a free download) has received over 1,000 five star reviews.

FBI Agent Rachel Gift, 33, unparalleled for her ability to enter the minds of serial killers, is a rising star in the Behavioral Crimes Unit—until a routine doctor visit reveals she has but a few months left to live.

Not wishing to burden others with her pain, Rachel decides, agonizing as it is, not to tell anyone—not even her boss, her partner, her husband, or her seven-year-old daughter. She wants to go down fighting, and to take as many serial killers with her as she can.

When a string of apparent suicides piques her suspicion, Rachel is on the case.

In an epic game of cat and mouse, can she stay healthy enough to outsmart the killer and catch him before it’s too late?

And can she keep her own demons—and her own traumatic past—at bay?

A riveting and chilling crime thriller featuring a brilliant and flailing FBI agent, the RACHEL GIFT series is an unputdownable mystery, packed with suspense, twists and shocking secrets, propelled by a page-turning pace that will keep you bleary-eyed late into the night.

This was a great book, I love listening to all Blake’s Books but unfortunately the narrator has been reading a few of his books that I’ve listen to lately and she’s just awful! I had to turn up the speed to stand it! She over sounds words and sounds like she’s spitting. Some words I don’t even know what she’s trying to say! If I didn’t speed it up I wouldn’t be able to handle it!
It’s very hard to enjoy the book!

This is the second book in the Rachel Gift series "Her Last Chance." I hope you have read Book 1 because in that book, we find out that Rachel has been told that she has an inoperable tumor in her brain. So, her and her partner Jack have another case they have to work that hits too close to home. Rachel has a grandmother who is still alive, and she is sort of close to her. Grandma Tate is her name, and she has found out that she has breast cancer, and she is in the last stages and has accepted it and wanted to let her know that she didn't want any type of treatment. She didn't want chemo or any type of operation she wanted to live like she lives now until the end, and she wanted to come tell Paige her great granddaughter about it and spend some time. So, on top of her having a diagnosis, she does not know when it might take her out. She has her grandmother to take care of. She has not told her husband, so hence her child does not know yet either. They go on a case to NYC where there is someone helping suicidal people kill themselves, and Jack and Rachel have to find the person with no material evidence to go on just electronic evidence. It is exciting. I love Rachel, but I think she is wrong keeping secrets that might blow up in her face, and then there is the serial killer Alex Lynch is added to the mix. This story has me excited for the next book in this series. Good Read.

This narrator was so bad that it was distracting and I couldn't even get through the entire story. She basically ruined the story....

The story was great but unfortunately the narrator’s tone was just awful; not in line with the story, which I only finished because it was intriguing. I know some people think the same about her and that should count.

I liked the story, although not enjoying the premise of the coming death of it’s heroine. I did , however, find the voice of the reader extremely aggravating. Words ending with t, d, or s’s were extremely pronounced and if I hadn’t been enjoying the story so much, I would have turned it off. I have no idea why she speaks this way but that was the reason I gave it 3 ⭐️s.
