About this audiobook

Two aching hearts. A meddling small town. A second chance.

It’s not a new story. Wife finds out husband’s been cheating on her and she packs up her four kids and heads back to her hometown, Sunrise Bay, Alaska.

Yeah, not a fresh start, but thousands of miles away from my ex will do just fine.

I’m prepared for the cold weather, the early snowfalls, and dark days and nights. What I’m not prepared for is coming face to face with my ex’s cousin and for the same feelings from twenty years ago to ignite like the flame never went out.

It doesn’t take long before people are whispering about the widowed Hank Greene and me. But we both have children to think of this time around. Then again, Hank knows what it’s like to be a single parent and sometimes those damn dimples of his make it hard to remember why we can’t be together.

NOTE: This is a prequel to The Greene Family series and does not have to be listened to in order to enjoy the series.

The book was okay. I think the story picked up a bit towards the end. It was kind of hard keeping up with which kids went with which main character.

I’ve loved the Greene Family series so far, I’ve read through My Vegas Groom...waiting for other titles to be available as audiobooks. So this prequel was a delight! Really great narration that complimented the characters!

(Hank & Marla): I had the "Cheaper by the Dozen" / "Brady Bunch" vibes with this one. Marla is back in her home town with her kids after a divorce. Down on her luck she runs into an old classmate, who is also her husband's cousin. The chemistry between Hank and Marla is off the charts, like no time has passed. They kind of dated in high school but it didn't work out. However since life has definitely changed for them by 4 or more kids each, there's the impressionable minds to consider. I really enjoyed this little novella but as I said before, I did feel it was very reminiscent of Brady Bunch. Other than that, good start to the series.

I loved this prequel to the Greene family. We got to see the large blended family as middle-aged parents and 9 kids. I can't wait to listen to the other books that are available in the series.
