Editor's Note
Spooky YA mystery…
Stacey may not be an ordinary teenager (she is, in fact, a witch) but she’s dealing with all the typical hassles of boarding school, like worrying about grades, mean girls, and what to do about her crush on her best friend’s ex. When her nightmares become haunted by premonitions of her friend’s murder, can Stacey summon her magic to stop the killer before it’s too late? A spooky YA mystery full of spells and suspense.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was OK, a little too girly for me but a decent enough story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I may be 62, but find YA books are great for keeping me entertained for long drives. This series wasn't a disappointment.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5So immature, anyone over 17 would not enjoy this. Not entertaining at all.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5My first thought was" another teen novel, bah! ", but it was surprisingly intriguing and well written, Nice pace and quite enjoyable all around
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I honestly don’t know what to make of this novel. I tend to get annoyed by these YA books, where the heroine runs straight to the killer while whining about how nobody believes her. I also have an acquired taste for YA. I tend to lean more toward the cusp of more mature YA/Adult
Frankly, due to writers' watered-down interpretation of how high school kids are really 5th graders who make up their own jargon nobody reading can relate to.
Don't get me wrong, this book had all the above but turned those cringeworthy moments into satire-like tools to move the plot forward quickly enough to keep you hanging onto these characters' outcomes. It was suspenseful, a little more Wicca than needed ( it's pretty obv the author practices due to the main character listing off every single ingredient of her spells, and mansplains scratch that wiccasplains her beliefs along with other useless facts on mother goddess, different crystals and their uses, etc, etc., etc. throughout the book), overall a satisfying read that I didn't feel a lingering icky feel like I do after reading some of the others out there *cough blood and bone series *cough*. So if you enjoy teens putting themselves in situations that we'll teens put themselves into ? and then add sassy characters with a quick wit with the added creepy suspense of a stalker on campus grounds ?this is the book for you. If you're more on the real true crime with no boundaries or restrictions on details of very twisted subject matter where my myriad of facial expressions best resemble shifting between these two??
You all know the type of book I'm talking about. The one's where you couldn't help but let out those “OHHH COME ON” & “SERIOUSLY ??? I JUST CANT ” groans where you feel like jumping in the shower and silently curse out the author for making this demented story one you can't help but refuse to stop listening to thus postponing your shower in trepidation to listen on anything but your earphones where you can rest assured your family won't hear you play what sounds like parts of a snuff film on your waterproof speaker while in said shower. All because you just need to know what's next. Okay that may have been just me. A true story I will deny to your face any day but ok to spew hiding behind a phone. Lmao. Okay I'm done! I'll give it 3.5/5 - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book was okay through about 98% of it. Nothing amazing, but it was good enough to keep going. Then I was absolutely baffled when the entire plot (the mystery in this mystery novel) was blurted out in the last few pages. Alllll the set up, then a complete let down. Read the last chapter and you can skip the rest of the book. It's like the author was writing on a deadline, got close to the end, then had 20 minutes left and scribbled out all of the things they meant to actually add in the story but didn't have time. Overall meh.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it! Cute story. I didn't see any Wiccan inconsistencies as someone else had mentioned. I am 46 and really enjoyed this YA novel. There are some real awkward teen moments as we have all lived through. One witch living in an academy with teens who are not witches. It's a good sleuth novel. The story was clean and aside from a couple kisses. Nothing else happens. The narrator was good as usual.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5First book I’ve read by this author (it would be SO MUCH easier if SCRIBD would put the series number in with the title of the books) and as a practicing Wiccan and pagan, I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters, although some of it wasn’t as accurate as it could have been. Maybe more research for future books? I also think the narrator did an awesome job, considering she didn’t sound very old, so kudos to her too. I shall read the next one in the series and hope it’s as good, or better than this one. Highly recommend for anyone aged 12 upwards.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Predictable, but not that boring. Some wicca inconsistencies bothered me but not enough to hate the book. I appreciated friends that did not condemn different religion.
On the other hand, there were too much angsty horny teen action and/or drama.
Also, jeez.. Hearing about young teen bladder so often made me a little bit uncomfortable.2 people found this helpful
