The Hotel & Gastro Union is the largest professional association in the Swiss hospitality sector, founded in 1886 to defend the rights of employees working in the industry. With around 22,000 members, the Hotel & Gastro Union actively campaigns for fair working conditions in the Swiss hospitality industry. At the center of its activities are the social, educational, and professional representation of its members, such as by negotiating collective labour contracts and developing hospitality professions and further education programs. The organisation consists of five national professional associations, representing each job category, and a publishing house (Hotellerie Gastronomie Verlag). The Hotel & Gastro Union is the owner of the Art Deco Hotel Montana Luzern and the founder of the Swiss Hotel Management School Lucerne (SHL).
