Description

Season Two - Episode FiveWe are delighted to host Brett Godwin, COO of Sterling Seacrest Partners on episode Five of the Insurance Coffee House USA.Sterling Seacrest are a large independent insurance agency headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with offices in Tampa, Savannah and other locations across the South East of the United States.Brett shares with us the story of his career, before going on to discuss the sizable growth SSP have achieved over the last few years. One of the secrets to this success is SSP’s clear Path to Partnership which it provides to producers and service staff when they join the business. Brett advises that this can give them a competitive advantage for talent against the corporates, who given their size, often cannot offer the same partnership path to their associates.Giving new talent a clear path to partnership, gives them ownership for their career development and empowers them to take control of their own destinies.Brett is a big advocate for adopting new technology to “stay relevant” but feels it only works if you have high-performing talent to use it and make the very most from the different software tools.Brett has “had a blast” since moving to SSP from a Corporate and feels that working at an independent agency allows him to have a greater impact and see the tangible results of his work at the business, as well as in the local community where SSP are a major brand.SSP are very strong on “cultural fit” when hiring new talent and include a Culture Interview as part of the recruitment process with interviewers coming from different teams to assess the candidates potential fit for the business. They seek individuals who are hungry, humble and smart (not just academically, but people focussed too) and set out a clear path to partnership for them.Brett encourages listeners to reach out to him after the show with any comments or questions.
