Description

Animals fed with the food they don't eat in the wild end up sick. The same thing happens with humans. We get sick with obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases. This is Dr. Chaffee’s perspective when it comes to approaching medicine. From different literature and studies, he deep dives into them to learn and see what is applicable in real life. His practice as a carnivore and his research made him well-informed to counter arguments thrown at him about the carnivore lifestyle. As a medical doctor currently training in neurosurgery, he witnessed the benefits of the carnivore to patients. The great effect of this diet on people’s chronic pain made him eager to go beyond surgery and recommend dietary changes for the wellness of his patients.Dr. Chaffee shares with us in this episode facts on our human omnivorous past, the origins of his interest in neurosurgery, and why a carnivorous diet is optimal for humans.Quick Guide:01:09 - Introduction02:08 - Anthony Chaffee’s background09:31 - How people accepted the message of humans being carnivores13:00 - Humans don’t have a defense against every plant poisons14:42 - The history of our omnivorous past and our carnivorous adaptations24:02 - Interest in neurosurgery28:43 - The effects of carnivore lifestyle on patients35:31 - A Harvard study opened doors for people to look at the effects of a carnivore diet strongly39:12 - Practicing carnivore and workouts45:27 - Ketones as the primary source of energyGet to know our guest:Dr. Anthony Chaffee started his carnivore journey back in his early 20s as a professional athlete. He is a medical doctor and has always been interested in diet and nutrition. He is currently doing his neurosurgery training in Australia."I like being able to get a call, see a patient, make a decision right then just do something for them right there. And be able to save their life and so that sit well with me and my personality and how I like to approach medicine, and then the chronic stuff as well, chronic pain, back pain, a lot of people don't like that. I don't like it either, in a sense, but since coming around to the carnivore thing and seeing people's health and chronic pain be just drastically improved by removing certain things from their diet, I find that I can help more people than otherwise thought possible just by recommending some dietary changes." - Dr. Anthony ChaffeeConnect with him:Linktree: https://linktr.ee/DrChaffeeMDEpisode snippets:03:26 - 04:13 - Naturally occurring poisons can cause cancer than pesticides06:02 - 06:44 - The toxins in plants cause stiffness, soreness, and swelling07:48 - 08:12 - When you feed animals something that they don’t eat, they get sick25:34 - 26:11 - The interest in neurosurgery cases45:27 - 46:26 - Ketones are the body’s preferred energy source54:10 - 54:37 - Decreasing of deuterium levelsConnect with Dr. Ovadia:TwitteriFixHearts WebsiteStay Off My Operating Table WebsiteAmazon Theme Song : Rage AgainstWritten & Performed by Logan Gritton & Colin Gailey(c) 2016 Mercury Retro RecordingsProduced by 38atoms & Jack Heald

He was a morbidly obese heart surgeon. Through high school, college, med school and surgical training, he followed the U.S. dietary guidelines for both diet and exercise. Yet nothing he did could keep the weight off. Each day in the operating theater he would split open the chests of people just like himself. He was heading for the operating table and knew he had to find solutions that worked. In 2016, he finally found a way to lose 100 pounds and keep it off. Now - in addition to doing heart surgery - he helps people just like himself get healthy, lose the weight and keep it off. Dr. Philip Ovadia is now a rebel M.D. working to keep people OFF his operating table.
