Description

We’re back in our new studio for episode number 2 with Dr. Bill Schinlder and his wife Christina Schindler on video conference from Maryland. Make sure you subscribe to the Sapien podcast on your podcast app of choice to get the new season. YouTube video version: https://youtu.be/Tu5zqsdtc54 Dr. Bill Schindler is the director of the Eastern Shore Food Lab at Washington College where he is also an associate professor of archaeology and anthropology.  Two years ago he co-hosted the National Geographic show The Great Human Race. He spent the last year abroad continuing his hands-on research and professional development by immersing himself and his family with indigenous and traditional groups around the world to learn about their food and diets.  As an experimental archaeologist and primitive technologist his specialties are in recreating technologies of the past to better interpret our ancestral diets. His current focus is learning how to translate the outcomes of that research into something meaningful for modern day diet and health and is working to fuse lessons from our ancestral dietary past with modern culinary arts to create a food system that is relevant, accessible and meaningful to modern Western life.   What you’ll get from this episode:   From an anthropological view, what are humans meant to eat? How much did animal foods play a role in human evolution? The importance of detoxifying plant foods How to eat like our ancestors in a modern world What the most nutrient dense foods are The difference in modern food processing compared to ancient processing How to enjoy bread in a safe and nutrient dense way Tips on feeding your kids and family Hunting your own food Eating nose to tail Spreading information on ancestral eating SAPIEN TRIBE http://tribe.sapien.org SAPIEN PROGRAM http://SapienProgram.com MAIN SITE http://Sapien.org   Dr. Gary Shlifer owns and operates Evolve Healthcare in Woodland Hills, CA.   Brian Sanders is the maker of the Food Lies film and founder of Nose to Tail   Follow along: http://twitter.com/sapien http://instagram.com/sapien.health http://facebook.com/sapienlife
