Description

One of the holy grail adventures of ultrarunning is Grand Canyon’s Rim to Rim to Rim: a 47-ish mile adventure with 12,000+ feet of elevation gain that takes runners from one rim of the canyon to the other, and then back to the starting point.
Known for its jaw-dropping views, wildly volatile temperature, and brutal climbs, it makes for one of the most unforgettable experiences an ultrarunner can have.

I recently completed Rim to Rim to Rim for the very first time with three of my amazing friends, and it was the journey of a lifetime. I know that a ton of listeners would like to complete the challenge one day, so I decided to compile everything someone needs to know and prepare for it in this episode.
I chat about when the best time of year to go is, what you need to be careful of, what gear you should bring, a description of the course, mistakes we made (so you don’t have to make them) and so much more. On top of that, I give a recap of our day in the canyon to tell you what it was like.
Plus, I even bring on the three savages who completed this run with me: Jordan Moon, Kimo Clark, and Benjamin Holmgren. They all share their perspective about the run, the hilarious stories that ensued, and their biggest lessons learned from the day. They are awesome guys indeed.
All in all, if you’re thinking about doing this run: do it. And this episode will set you up for success.
