Description
Today's guest is Triple Olympic medallist from the Beijing Olympics, Andrew Lauterstein. We discussed his swimming journey and how at 34 yrs of age and 10 years post retirement, he has been able to swim a near personal best in the 50 FRS at the recent Australian Nationals. Why did he get back in and race? How did he swim so fast? What type of training has Andrew been doing to get back to that near lifetime best. We discussed all that and more, and it became evident that staying fit during his "retirement" years played a big part on swimming that fast well into his 30's. We chatted about being part of that famous 100 butterfly race from Beijing, and sharing the marshalling room and the dias with Michael Phelps; his memories from racing at the Olympics and World Championships and his life now as Co-Owner of Engine Swimwear and Mentone Aquatic. Sprinkle in a bit of chat about open water swimming and cross-fit games competitions, and you have yourself a podcast worth listening to.You won't want to miss this pod with one of Australia's fastest butterflyers!Connect with Andrew at:Instagram: @alautersteinEngine website: https://www.engineswim.comNew Wave Swim School: http://newwaveswim.com.au/#homeMentone Aquatic: https://www.mentoneaquatic.com/#mentoneaquaticConnect with Torpedo Swimtalk:All podcast platform links at Linktree: https://linktr.ee/torpedo_swimtalkWebsite: https://www.torpedoswimtalk.com/ Now also on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QQoIb6d9Sg
