Chapter 1    Silence before the challenge 

When we are caught off guard we tend to lack appropriate ways to respond. Some people refer to this experience as being ‘blank.’ This is a time in your life where you are not quite sure as to how you can process your thoughts in order for you to move forward. We all come across situations in life when the least expected things happen to us. These situations present us with moments of uncertainty, doubt, fear and even embarrassment at times!

In the book of Esther we find this young queen faced with an unexpected situation which caused her great embarrassment.

Here’s just a bit of a background. Esther was a young refugee girl away from her home, in a totally different land.

Background

When a search was launched to find a new queen among the young virgins in the land, Esther’s uncle who was serving in the kingdom at the time brought her as one of the possible choices for the king. The story tells us that Esther was a beautiful young lady.

Esther found favor with the king and she was chosen among the young virgins to be the Queen. Esther was then presented to the king as his queen! Esther finds herself in this new role in a land of slavery. This was an unknown culture to her and everything was new. Have you ever found yourself in a different place where you are not even sure how to navigate your way forward. Through these experiences we realize that God has a great plan for our lives. God has a tendency of meeting us in the place of the unknown.  This is a place where miracles abound. Our role at these times is to trust God.

There is no use in saying that you trust God while you are refusing to move forward with His plan. Often times we are held back because God is requiring us to travel an unknown road. When this happens the only thing you can do is to apply faith and trust
