CHAPTER ONE

THE SPIRIT OF PHARAOH

The spirit of Pharaoh in ancient Egypt defined the rulers of one of the world's most enduring civilizations. The divine authority bestowed upon pharaohs exhibits their ambitious pursuits and the lasting legacy they left behind. At the core of the spirit of Pharaoh lies in divine authority. Pharaohs were not merely earthly rulers; they were considered divine beings, chosen by the gods to govern the land. This spiritual significance makes them mystic and elevated their status to that of living gods. The divine connection influenced every facet of Pharaoh Dynasty. Their rule from religious practices to political decisions reinforced the idea that the spirit of Pharaoh was inseparable from the divine realm.

What is the meaning of Pharaoh? Pharaoh means the son of the sun. The Egyptian kings, Pharaohs, were regarded as gods with awesome power. He is a king you can’t question. It is believed he can’t ere. This is the reason he gives order and instantly carried out. When he ordered the children of Israel under of…. age to be killed in Egypt it was carried out with joy in horror. The spirit of Pharaoh is synonymous to destruction of good things in their infancy. Pharaoh manages temple of destruction in his heart. He gave that all male children of the Israelites must die. This was when baby Moses was born and was going to be killed if it wasn’t for God’s intervention.

The spirit of Pharaoh represents powers that can draw power from the sun and from the water. You may wonder what this mean. Ezekiel 29:2-4 says, Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt: Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales. As we read in Exodus, Pharaoh used to visit the River Nile every day.

The spirit of Pharaoh witnessed rituals, imbued with religious symbolism and mysticism. The wearing of the Double Crown, the Heb-Sed festival celebrating the renewal of the pharaoh's strength, and other ceremonial acts reinforced the divine authority inherent in the spirit of Pharaoh. These are sources of Pharaoh’s boast.

The spirit of Pharaoh was characterized by an ambitious pursuit of greatness and immortality. Pharaohs are driven by an insatiable desire to leave an indelible mark on history. They embark on colossal construction projects that stand as enduring symbols of their ambition. These include iconic pyramids of Giza, grand temples, and monumental statues of the ancient time.

The spirit of Pharaoh extended beyond the borders of Egypt, as rulers engaged in military campaigns to expand their dominion. Conquests were not solely driven by territorial ambitions but were also fueled by the Pharaohs' belief in divine providence. Victories on the battlefield were interpreted as validations of their divine favor, solidifying their authority and reinforcing the spirit of Pharaoh as an invincible force.

THE ATTRIBUTES OF PHARAOH’S SPIRIT

CONFUSED IDENTITY: The spirit of Pharaoh confuses our identity. The spirit of Pharaoh makes you unsure of your identity. Moses lived for many years with dual identities; one as an Israelite slave and another as the son of the princess of Egypt. The spirit of Pharaoh confuses you in office where terrible rivalry is established between two bosses. You may end up the punch bag.

KILLER AGENT: The spirit of Pharaoh makes you a killer agent in the body of Christ. The spirit of Pharaoh is a master at distracting us from doing well. It generates confusion in our identity. The midwives were perfect example; instructed to kill babies delivered by the Hebrew women. Instead of helping the newborns to reach their destiny, he turned them to destiny terminators. Such spirit confuses people to do anything and become anything in life. This is evil.

The instruction would have terminated Moses. Pharaoh was the one that gave instruction that all male children of the Israelites must die and baby Moses was going to be eliminated but for God’s intervention. When you occupy position do not use it for evil because Satan is working hard to make us fall in love with positions that affects life negatively. You don’t need such position and if you occupy are tempted or given instruction to do otherwise reject it. We must arise as Christian and live a life that promotes Christ.

MAGICIANS AND SORCERY: Pharaoh's reliance on magicians and sorcerers to counter God's miracles was the beginning of his fall. He is believed to possess a direct connection to the gods; hence he maintained relationship with practitioners of magical arts. It is believed he has access to supernatural forces and arcane knowledge. Within the court of the Pharaoh, magicians held a special place. Their mystical arts were often called upon to interpret dreams, define the future, or influence events in favor of the ruling elite. The spirit of Pharaoh embraced the mystical talents of these court magicians, viewing them as conduits to the divine realms and instruments to strengthen the ruler's authority.

One of the most iconic encounters between the spirit of Pharaoh and magical arts is depicted in the biblical narrative of the Exodus. When Moses, guided by the Hebrew God, confronted Pharaoh with divine miracles, the court magicians were summoned to replicate these feats. The battle of wits and magical prowess between Moses and the court magicians serves as a testament to the relationship between the spirit of Pharaoh and the mystical arts.

The spirit of Pharaoh represents enemies that employ sorcerers and magicians against us. They say, Catch this person, spoil this marriage, make this child dull, wreck this business" and so on.
