Prayer Against Untimely Death - Tella Olayeri

    DEALING WITH UNTIMELY DEATH

From the beginning, death wasn't in God's agenda for men, but for negligence, disobedience and sin of Adam and Eve our celebration galore would have been that of life without taste of death. Right from creation, God wished us well, but we never wished ourselves so. The Lord gave us key to palace of long life but we misplaced and misused it.

Seeing gray hair on every, head is a common thing on our streets these days. The word death wouldn't have found place in our dictionary today, for God wished us splendor on earth. But for our unrighteousness such privilege eluded us. The book of proverbs shed light on the benefits of old age. Proverbs 16: 31 says, Gray hair is a crown of splendour; it is attained by a righteous life". Proverbs 20:29 further says ……. gray hair the splendour of the old

Before we go ahead to define what is meant by sudden or untimely death, let's first define what death means. As time will permit, we shall first define what is meant by physical death then we shall define what is meant by spiritual death as well

Physical death means termination from existence irreversible ending of life; dying or being killed. When one dies that is, his breathe seized; it is call physical death. It can be at old or tender age. It can be in the morning, afternoon, evening or at night. The fact remains, death can strike at any hour of the day

No day, date or hour is set aside for death. It can be anytime. Once it strikes, it strikes. No one can question Mr. Death why he strikes!

Spiritual death on the other hand is different from physical death. Spiritual death means a person is seen in the physical living a healthy life but in spirit he or she is not in good shape. From below explanations and definition one should be able to understand what spiritual death means. Such death include among others:

    1.      When a person backslides.

    2.      When a person becomes weak in prayer or he/she, suddenly stops praying.

    3.      When a, person, suddenly stops going for church activities.

    4.      When a person find it difficult to read the Word of God to improve his / her spiritual life.

    5.      When a person .often experience attacks and defeats in the dream

    6.      When a person form's the habit of attacking men of God.

    7.      When you speak against the Holy Spirit

    8.      When you, refuse to be a full member of the church by belonging to house fellowship or partake in group meetings.

    9.      When you become perpetual latecomer to church or form the habit of not attending Sunday School Service.

    10.      When you come to church but never with your Holy Bible or even writing materials to jot down messages.

    11.      When your mind is often fill with illicit activities during church service, such as sending love letters through, brethren or through the ushers in the children! Thus, graduating you to satanic Romeo or Juliet in the house of God.

All these facts with many unprinted actions and activities that never promote Christ crown you as a spiritually dead Christian. Can you audit yourself now to know if actually you are a dead or a living Christian? By the way, this is not our primary focus per see, but it should be mentioned. What we are concerned with here is, sudden death, which is death that occurs at prime age.

No one ever bargain for sudden death. Even what most people call old age, may not be called so among his or her loved ones. When Moses, died at the age of 120 years, everyone in Israel mourned and searched all around for his corpse. If Moses can be mourned at such age, it means sudden death is a situation too hot to handle.

Sudden death is catastrophic, as it is often believed anyone who dies premature, death went to the grave with brilliant talents and ideas. No wonder, it is often said, "cementary is the warehouse of wasted talents". Thus, sudden death portrays sudden collapse of good hopes unaccomplished. It pollutes joy and disharmony. Whenever it strikes, it leaves behind sorrow tears and blood, making victims uncomfortable. Sudden death is better imagined than experience. It destabilize well arrange plans that may move society forward. Sudden death often causes suspicion, even among innocent ones.

How are the mighty fallen? How do things fall apart suddenly, leaving the center in agony and cries? Why should sudden death erupt volcano of tears in faces of loyalties and loved ones? Why should lamentation rent the air, making everyone speak woe against sudden death? When sudden death strikes, words that weaken the heart are often said. Among the Yoruba speaking of Nigeria when sudden death strikes, they often lament, "Iku d 'oro, iku mu eni rere lo, iku o ba gb 'owo a ba fun lowo, iku o ba gba aso a bafun laso. Ha, iku ko jale. iku o gba owo, iku ko jale, iku kiogbo, iku ko gba so ". Meaning "Death did its worst. It takes away good person if it takes cloth or money we would have given it to death. But death refuses to take either: This means it is painful, when sudden death strikes. People are often seen shaking their heads as sign of great loss when death strikes.

In summary, whether death is sudden or not, it is biblically define in twelve major ways as follows:

    1.      Dying. Genesis 5: 5, 8, 11, 24.

    2.      Returning to the dust. Genesis 3:19, Ecc. 12 : 7

    3.      Lying down in the dust. Job 7: 21

    4.      Going to one's fathers. Genesis 15: 15

    5.      Resting with one's fathers. Dt. 31:16, 2 Sam. 7: 12.

    6.      Bring gathered to one's people. Gen. 25:8, Gen. 49:29.

    7.      Breathing one's last. Gen. 25:8, Gen. 49:29

    8.      Going down to the grave. Gen. 37: 35, 1 King2: 6,9.

    9.      Falling asleep. John 11: 11, Act 7: 60.

    10.      Being asleep. Psalm 76: 5, Dan. 12: 2.

    11.      Being away from the body. 2 Cor. 5:8.

    12.      Departing. Philippians 1:23,2 Tim 4: 6,2 Pet. 1: 15.

Death doesn't bring joy except for rear cases when a person is noted for wickedness. Such death herald joy among people with the saying, "So death caught him/her at last". But then, such death is mourned by few, no matter what. I can still remember when a military dictator died while in office in my country, Nigeria, there was jubilation all-over, in spite of all these, his family and close associates mourned his death.

There is no place in the Bible, where God encouraged sudden death. He gave us long life, if not for our sins. The Bible says in the book of Job 5:26. "Thou shall come to thy grave in a full age, as a shock of corn cometh in his season" This was how Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, John the beloved etc. died. They all died at old age

Every reason behind this, book, is for you to claim and have long life and prosperity. Don’t doubt God, He shall surely do it. Therefore, if you must doubt something, DOUBT YOUR DOUBTS, because they are unreliable, but never doubt God nor His Word.

Don't sit and fold your arms. It is time to act. It is time for fire for fire against every power of sudden death. There are dark powers everywhere struggling to suck innocent blood, they are all around holding platter of plate in their hands scouting for heads of innocent ones, in the order of John the Baptist. They are mad at children as their aim is not to see them fulfilling their destinies. They are double mad against parents so that their children become orphans. They want their victims cry rather than laugh at seasons of the year. They love you to be a constant visitor of the mortuary, don’t allow them fulfill their mission against your life. They must be stopped by all means. Enough is enough. Battle against sudden death must be fought and won

Hence I prophecy into your life, you shall excel in life and live a long and prosperous life. Amen.

    CAUSES OF UNTIMELY DEATH

Sudden death is often termed untimely or unexpected. But then, something must take place or happen before untimely death come knocking at the door to excuse its victim exit from this planet earth. What then can we enumerate as causes of this monster, call untimely death? Let's check at 40 reasons or more that may lead to untimely death

    1.      Power of Jealousy and Cruelty. It is an irony that the first death ever recorded on earth was sudden death! It happened when Cain tissed his brother Abel to an open field and had him killed in cold blood. This happened when Cain a senior brother of Abel, jealously killed Abel simply because Abel's offering was accepted before God against that of Cain. (Genesis chapter four). I pray that what you labour for shall not cause your sudden death. Amen.

    2.      Covetousness. This is one of the paramount flag of death people often display all over today. Pastors are covetous, church members are covetous. In fact both believers and unbelievers are covetous in nature and in habit. If Judas Iscariot a disciple of Jesus can be
