    Chapter One

Steve watched as Elena stared at the strange creature, lulling it to sleep in front of his own eyes. The beast, which he had been terrified of only moments ago, was now snuggling back down into the crack that had appeared in the land. Elena looked completely in control of the situation. It was the strangest thing he had seen in a long time – which was saying something in the grand scheme of things.

With the monster apparently taken care of, Elena released her control on the beast and let out a small sigh. Steve reached out for her, turning her around to look at him.

What was that? How do you have powers like Herobrine? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?

We didn’t have any time to go over it. Elena replied.

This is major! Elena, I need to know what is going on. You knew about the locks and now you can do this…

Come on. I’ll explain but we need to keep an eye on Herobrine. I bet he is being affected outside of the game too because of his connection. She remarked.

Together, they moved back to the place where they had put Herobrine. He was still fast asleep. His skin looked waxy and Steve was worried that something bad was going to happen to his friend. Without his powers, Steve felt useless. There was nothing that he could do to help him.

    But Elena could.

Alright, come on. Spit it out. From the top. He said to her as he sat down.

Elena exhaled slowly and nodded, Fine. From the top.

    ***

Elena couldn’t see where Herobrine and Steve had gone. Toppled off the mountain, perhaps. She had managed to keep her grip intact although it was slipping. The fall looked rough. Had Steve and Herobrine really fallen off the mountain?

At the moment, she couldn’t think about that. She was struggling to stay on the mountain herself. They were so close – if she could stay on here then maybe it was possible to still help! In the distance, she heard a roar and looked up. There was a dark, glowing shape against the sky. It appeared to be a…

    Dragon. She mumbled, Great.

In her time hanging out with Steve, there was never a dull moment. Anytime Elena thought they had done all they could do, there was something else popping up. The events unfolding now were no different.

The mountain went still. Flattened against a small alcove in the mountain, Elena stuck her head out and looked around. There didn’t seem to be anyone around. No sign of Herobrine or Steve. She stood there, wondering if she should head down the mountain or keep going.
