About this ebook

With my book, Young and Free, I try to help the younger generations first, but it is not set in stone that forbidden to read for olders, or that it contains no new knowledge for them, and that they cannot learn anything from it. This book, which is unique both in its themes and in its style, is recommended to everyone who still has the youthful drive, the desire to evolve and to learn and the hope for a better and fuller life.

In the book, freedom is the central motif, because I believe that this is what everyone wants in life. I think that ultimately we are all search for freedom and independence. In my book, I try to encourage the youth, the members of today's generations x, y and z, to try to formulate what exactly freedom means to them, if they haven't defined it yet. Until we have clarified this ourselves, it is almost completely unnecessary to set goals, since it is not certain that they will really be the goals that we really need to achieve.

The objective is important, but it is even more important to define the reasons. The reason for the goal itself, that why I want to get there. I see that for many youngsters today it is not completely clear. They simply do not know where they are going, they do not know what awaits them, what to expect from their future, and what is worse, many young people simply do not have any goals and plans at all regarding their later life.

I hope that with my book I can help young people to be able to determine over time what freedom means for them and also that they will believe, that really can achieve it with the help of what is described in the book. I'm trying to do this by presenting the fields in which, if they make progress, they can be truly successful, happy and, at the same time, freer.

My book was created by combining my experiences from my own life and what I learned at school during my sociological studies. It is mostly aimed at young people, but I also tried to ensure that, even though it mainly addresses the young generations (x,y,z), the target audience is not only them, but anyone who feels like to read it. In addition to making you think, motivate and teach, the book is also extremely entertaining.

Besides encouraging to learning and self-improvement, you can read great quotes and you can also find some social criticism in it, but the book itself is not politicized, but it does discuss current topics.

Such topics are, for example, the education system, the acquisition of useful knowledge through the right study teqhnics, responsibility and maturity, and the pursuit of a sporty and healthy life.

Young and Free - Tom Miko

    Introduction

    Dear Reader!

What you are holding in your hand is a writing that fills a gap nowadays, not only regionally, in Hungary where I live but also wordlwide. Now you must be thinking that it is natural for me to write this, because this is how every author thinks about their own book. In this introduction, in addition to giving a broad outline of what the book will be about, I will also show you why I think there are no writings like this today.

If someone were to ask me what kind of book this is, I would say that it belongs to the category of self-development and self-management, but it is a little different from those that can be found on the book market today.

Of course, there have been dozens of self-management and motivational books for a very long time, but writing that would speak to today's young people and try to help them either in achieving their goals or in developing a more responsible, mature lifestyle is not currently available neither in Hungary nor elsewhere, as far as I know.

In my book, I attempt to combine my personal experiences from my own life and what I have learned during my sociology studies to go through topics, situations and circumstances that will sooner or later be or are already present in the life of every young person.

"I can show you the way,

but you have to go through it yourself.

I can show you the water

but only you can drink from it."

    (A. de Mello)

I don't primarily want to motivate you with this book - although I admit that this is partly my goal too - but rather to make you ask questions about what freedom means to you, and to start working on achieving it as soon as possible. I want you to be able to define it with the help of this book, what and how you should do it, what you should do differently, and what problems you currently have that stand between you and achieving your goals.

The more problems we will solve independently in our lives, for which there can be no better motivation on this Earth, the more we will be able to overcome new and more complex problems in such a way as to gain a sufficient amount of self-confidence.

Since every problem contains the key to the solution, the deeper we dig, the sooner and the higher level of solutions we will find. Each solution waters the tree of our self-confidence a little, and over time we and our environment realize that this tree is full of strength and full of life.

As you progress through the chapters, you will notice that the topics I touch on have mostly been present in your life as well or may even be relevant right now, and you have a close relationship with them. Of course, it may also happen that you have not yet been affected by those that discussed in most chapters, but you know someone who has. After reading the individual parts, you will be able to draw a conclusion, you will be able to think it over how you experienced it if you were in a similar situation or a decision, or if you haven't yet, how you will behave, what you will do at the given circumstances in the future. This greatly increases your self-confidence and problem-solving ability, because next time you will definitely know what to do and there is a good chance that you will make the best possible decision.

Since every person is different, it is not possible to use the same motivational tools to help everyone in life. Someone is motivated by this, someone is not. For someone, a certain advice means help, and for others don’t. Someone is driven forward by the possibility of achieving beautiful and new things, someone by the fear of deprivation. That is why I cannot say that all motivational tools and advice are equally good and equally effective for everyone, since everyone is unique on this Earth. That is why motivation is not my primary goal, but, as I have already written, to formulate questions for yourself. Sometimes you just need to outline a specific opportunity to someone, give some good advice, show an example, even a problem, how others solved it, or show a way to achieve a goal. And based on these, you will make the most obvious decision, in the way that is the most rational and reasonable for your in that situation, in comparison with your own life, according to your own knowledge.

And this is exactly what I am trying to do in this book.

What does this book do for you?

„You must be the change, you wish to see in the world." (Gandhi)

The title of the book is Young and Free. Its primary goal is to help young people define what true freedom means to them, as well as to give them help and pointers on what and how they should do to get closer to a freer life.

What exactly does freedom mean? I believe that this word is a little different for everyone. Someone thinks of this word, from the financial point of view, which is very fashionable these days, that achieving freedom is synonymous with when someone no longer has to work for money, but instead invest the earned money, so it will work for them from then on, or quite simply, if they win the lottery.

I don't think of freedom that way in the first place, but I can also accept it if that's what immediately jumps into someone's mind when they hear the word.

In this book, freedom is mainly placed in a context that is a state that, even by striving to achieve, the person can already make a serious impact on his own state, namely in a positive direction, but there is no doubt that the main point is to reach this state, so freedom itself.

I have to admit that I thought for a long time about what true freedom means to me. At first I thought that for me this state could consist of several things, so it is not a specific thing. After that, I immersed myself more in the research and finally came to the conclusion that for me, complete freedom means being in control of my life, that is, when I have the reins in my hands and I am not dependent on anyone else, in any sense. After I took note of this with a good feeling, I began to think that it is very good that
