About this ebook

Reignite The Embers is perfect for fans of Kate Baer and Melody Godfred!

Reignite The Embers is a collection of poems portraying the beautiful, and sometimes confusing, journey of new beginnings. From the ashes of broken dreams and stifled confidence, to the spark of a sudden connection and new love, these words stand tall in their underlying message: There is new life in the act-and courage-of starting over. This collection is a winding path from heartbreak to numbness, doubt to distrust, fear to empowerment, physical awakening to mental serenity, unforeseen love for both oneself and an unlikely partner, and finally, unexpected peace.

Reignite The Embers follows E.V. Nova's debut poetry collection, After The Ashes.

Reignite The Embers - E.V. Nova

    after the ashes

    comes the breeze of change.

not strong, but monumental in the way it

    isn’t there one second,

    and the next,

    everything is different.

    unrecognizable.

    irrevocable.

and still, amid the strange puzzle of our surroundings,

we find a way to fit,

    to comprehend,

    and to rise.

you were just as unprepared to love me

as i was to let you go.

    what's in a name?

    everything.

    nothing.

    but it's not nothing.

today, i came across an envelope with my last name on it.

but it's not mine, is it?

    not anymore.

    it's yours,

and it's the final thing you took from me.

no, it's not just a name,

    it was mine.

and it still hurts to see it,

scrawled on black ink and splattered tears.

i never wanted to keep you hidden like a secret,

but i wanted to keep you.

    at least, until i realized

i was your dirty little secret, too.

for you, i stripped myself to bone,

covered it with the muted ensemble you wanted me to be.

for him, i stripped myself bare,

hid my pain and allowed him to awaken the flesh i thought had died.

    whether cloaked in your expectations

or opened wide by his choked promises,

i am left here, alone, in the middle of this
