This volume of simple, unpretentious poetry will hopefully direct the reader to an understanding of the marvellous and abundant grace that Jesus Christ has to offer every human being. By combining Biblical verses with the author’s thoughts, the poems shall perhaps navigate men’s hearts to an awareness of the rich mercy that Jesus wants to share with all people.

When humans have thoughts surmising Christ, what may they ask themselves? How do I get to know the Saviour of mankind? What does a life lived for Christ entail? Are there aspects of my life that I need to change? How can I have a heartfelt relationship with God’s Son?

The poems in this book shall assist you in finding what Christ wants to do in your life and what He has already done. The titles may cause readers to think questions of great importance: “I Have Chosen You,” “No Longer Earthbound,” “Leap Like a Deer,” “No One Can Tell God What to Do,” “The Effectual Fervent Prayer,” “Washed with Butter,” “Inward Parts,” “The Pathways of God’s Pleasure,” etc….

I Have Chosen You

I chose you; I have spoken.

You are in spiritual motion.

I gave you a divine promotion.

The Trinity is interwoven in your life.

I act within your being all the time.

I guide you and for you I will fight.

Trust in Me, not in human emotion.

Permit your heart to be broken.

Love me now every moment.

I need you to bring forth fruit.

I have made you My recruit.

My will in your life I shall execute.

My children, love one another;

You are sisters and brothers.

Eat blessings at my supper.

Worship Me in your thoughts.

Follow the Way of My cross.

Stay on course as you walk.

I chose you; I have spoken.

You are in spiritual motion.

Only Carry His Cross

The cross, made of wood,

Consisting of an upright post,

And a transverse piece,

Was heavy, but it was good.

His cross is the only one worth carrying.

Hold His sin-stained plank without varying.

Jesus carried, then

Simon of Cyrene carried,

The original.

This is not fictional;

This is biblical.

Transport it.

Bear it.

Don’t sway.

Simply stand.

The cross of Christ was oppressive,

But He bore it.

The cross of Christ was overwhelming,

But He wore it.

That old crisscross board

Meandered its way

Through the streets of Jerusalem

To Golgotha.

Straddling its sinuous

Way to the place of the skull,

Is where it stood.

No Longer Earthbound

Jesus has covered my sins.

They cannot be found.

Each day a victory

I win. I’m no longer earthbound.

My transgressions have been forgiven.

I acknowledged my sins to Jesus.

To His will I must give in.

Through Him I now have freedom.

Day and night are perfect times

To talk to my Savior.

His love and grace last a lifetime.

There is no one who is greater.

I once lived in open rebellion,

But now I know His atonement.

His armor is my weapon.

In Him there’s no disappointment.

In His promises I am hoping.

I sing songs of deliverance.

I’m no longer in darkness groping.

I worship Him in reverence.

Jesus has covered my sins.

They cannot be found.

Each day a victory I win.

I’m no longer earthbound.

Life’s Hidden Treasure

When you find the hidden treasure,

You’ll be in life’s great adventure.

Live enthusiastically.

Spread the gospel wholeheartedly.

When you find the hidden treasure,

Share your life giving heritage.

Sell all that you have in this world.

Your gems are now life giving pearls.

When you find the hidden treasure,

You will have wealth beyond measure.

You now own an expensive field.

All your sins have now been concealed.

When you find the hidden treasure,

Your life will be so much better.

Eternal life cost a great price.

It took the Savior’s sinless life.

When you find the hidden treasure,

You’ve met the great Intercessor.

His field is white unto harvest.

Jesus is God’s Son incarnate.

Your House

Jesus wants to prepare a mansion for you.

It will be new, and oh what a view!

What about your foundation?

Your underpinning?

Your new birth beginning?

Whether you live below

In a chateau or condo,

Or a Swiss house with a

Sloping roof and wide eaves,

Jesus knows just what you’ll need.

Do you live in a lighthouse?

Is Jesus your Keeper?

Is He your beacon?

Are you a pathfinder, a spotlight?

How is your sparkle? Do you know?

Always have a gleam, a glint, a glow.

What about your interior?

Have the floors been swept?

How is the carpentry?

Your cabinetry?

Is Jesus your cornerstone?

Your groundwork, your core?

If so,

Jesus is preparing a mansion for you.

It is new, and oh what a view!

Consider the Joy

Make an effort to be

Uninterrupted in your joy.

Try not to destroy

Your soul’s tranquility.

Through Christ you have this ability.

Jesus is your source of

Elation,

Satisfaction,

Celebration.

Cherish your relationship.

Treasure His promises.

Worship your Savior.

Nourish your soul.

Reminisce past blessings.

The Spirit identifies your sins,

When God corrects.

Your behavior must be modified,

But you are still justified

In His sight.

Be grateful,

Be thankful,

Be faithful,

To God.

From Deep Waters

When I was sinking in the mud,

You rescued me; You ransomed me.

You pulled me from the deep waters.

Don’t let me sink any deeper!

Salvage my soul; save me from sin.

When I was not seeking your grace,

Seek Ye First

Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

Consider all He’s done for you,

Everything new and all that’s old.

You have gratefulness to pursue.

Discover all of His blessings,

All those things that will be added.

Life can sometimes be depressing;

Do all that God has commanded.

Remember His rich righteousness.

Don’t worry about tomorrow.

Read His Word that enlightens us.

Your soul is now as white as snow.

Explore all of His Godliness.

By His Spirit comes repentance.

By His blood you have blamelessness.

In Christ you have independence.
