Night Songs: A Collection of Poetry
()
About this ebook
Night Songs is a titled expression
To confirm God’s presence;
For especially in the midst of trouble,
We can experience his essence.
A song is usually a brief composition
Meant to be sung;
A poem that gives a special message
With melodious tongue.
A song usually makes one merry
And sometimes makes one sad;
But this collection of songs in the night
Is written to make you glad.

I give honor to God first. I am grateful to be able to publish this collection of writings. Each poem has been written prayerfully and chosen for your all-around natural and spiritual well-being and for your encouragement.
Special thanks to Floretta Briddell, Cheryl L. Carnegie, Rosetta E. Dennis, Lee Ann Hill, Tama Macer, Becky Milbourne, and Velma Wilson for their constructive criticism and proofing of my poetry over the years.
Thanks also to my family, former church family: St. John Holiness Church in Stockton, Maryland, and my current church family: Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church in Salisbury, Maryland. Thanks to my friends and co-workers for all the encouraging words and gestures received over the years. My thanks extend to Ann Beauchamp for all of her urging and encouragement, informing me many times of poetic publishing opportunities.
I give special recognition and dedication of this book to the United States military. They are in my daily prayers for the personal and family sacrifices made constantly on behalf of our safety, rights, and freedom.
I hope that as you read each poem you will be engulfed in its meaning and that it will enlighten, encourage, strengthen, and enrich your life. As you read each poem, please remember my personal motto: I write each poem prayerfully.
This book is dedicated to the loving and lasting memory of the late: Willie Beasley, Gerand Witcher, Elder P. Frances Wilson, Gladys Harmon, and Betty J. Smith. Special dedication is proclaimed in honor of my mother, the late Emma Lee Bratten.
