Oak had been waiting all week to pamper his husband. Poor Colin was at the end of his rope and hanging on by a thread. One little clog in the circulation of the storage freezer had thrown everything into chaos, thawing out hundreds of pounds of fish by the time anyone noticed and costing their distribution company more money than Colin liked to talk about, even when he came home to vent all his woes to Oak. Fortunately, Colin was a capable and competent manager who had worked nearly seventy hours that week getting everything back on track with phone calls to repair companies and insurance agents, all while putting on a confident face around his employees to help them get through this.

When Colin wasn’t at work though, he was a wreck. Oak would get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and Colin would be awake scrolling through his phone trying to take his mind off work. Colin even went in on one of his days off because he didn’t feel comfortable entirely leaving the mess for anyone else to clean up. All that was behind him now and he was actually taking his day off. Oak had planned a big surprise for him that involved calling in help from his mom’s massage therapist friend and a few other personal connections. Using his own graphic design skills, Oak had added the finishing touches. It was time for the reveal.

Colin hadn’t had time to go out for his usual morning jogs all week and his body cursed him for it. It wasn’t enough that he had lost sleep to nightmares about all the freezers breaking overnight and having to go through this all again but worse because they’d lose everything, he could barely make it half a mile before his joints started
