Chapter One

Sophie Majors, feeling trapped by the hard life of Baltimore, Maryland where she grew up, finds solace in the small town of Bel Air, where she takes a job at a local bookstore. A local named Derek meets her, and they are instantly drawn to each other. After a brief discussion, Sophie realizes that less than one percent of Bel Air's population was black.

Sophie couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the lack of diversity, but Derek's piercing green eyes and charming smile distracted her from her worries. As they chatted about their favorite books and movies whenever he came by, Sophie's heart raced with excitement. She had never felt this kind of attraction before.

Derek leaned in closer, his breath hot against her ear. You know, Sophie, there are plenty of ways to have fun in this town, he whispered seductively.

Oh really, Sophie sighed.

Sophie's heart raced as Derek's words sank in. She knew what he meant, and the thought made her feel excited and nervous. She had always been a good girl, never straying too far from the straight and narrow, but something about Derek's confident and alluring presence made her want to take a walk on the wild side.

She turned to face him, her eyes meeting his intense gaze. What do you have in mind? she asked, trying to sound casual as she nervously tugged at the hem of her dress.

Derek's lips curled into a mischievous smile as he reached out to brush a strand of hair from her face. I have a few ideas, he said, his voice low and husky. But first, I need to know if you're ready for this.

Sophie swallowed hard, feeling a shiver run down her spine. She had never felt so alive, so adventurous. Something about Derek made her feel like she could conquer the world.

I'm ready, she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Derek leaned in closer, his lips brushing against her ear. Good, he murmured before trailing kisses down her neck.

Sophie shivered with anticipation as Derek took her hand and led her out of the bookstore once her shift had ended. They walked towards the woods on the outskirts of town, where they could be alone and explore each other's desires.

Without hesitation, he pulled down her tennis skirt and tossed it aside. Her skin seemed to burn under his touch, and Sophie couldn't help but let out a tiny gasp as Derek kissed the hollow of her throat.
