Cure Procrastination - Ryan J Stevens
Introduction
William James, an American philosopher, and psychologist said, Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.
You know the feeling, you start something, and you know you have a finite amount of time to complete it, but you don’t put sincere effort into completing it anyway. You can’t drop it but you can’t finish it, and no matter what else you are doing, you endure nagging feelings about the uncompleted task. You do not enjoy and find accomplishment in anything else because you have the uncompleted task hanging over your head like a dark cloud. It causes you to have feelings of anxiety, insecurity, and impending doom. You know you are failing yourself and failing others. You know that the day will arrive when you must answer, in one way or another, for not completing the task.
You know the simple solution for escaping these awful feelings is to just finish the task, and yet you don’t. You put it off for another day, telling yourself that you will definitely finish it tomorrow. But you don’t, and the awful feelings continue to expand and make you miserable.
You tell yourself that it doesn’t make any sense to continue to procrastinate, but you can’t seem to stop. Even after you complete the current task that you have been putting off, you procrastinate on the next task. You procrastinate daily as you do other things instead of getting ready for work and leaving on time. You know you have to leave the office by 2:30 PM to make it to an important 3:00 meeting on time, but you dawdle away the minutes and don’t leave the office until 2:55, arriving at the meeting 20 minutes late.
You may not understand the reason behind procrastination or how you can stop procrastinating. And this is a serious problem for many people who are chronic procrastinators. It affects their relationships, job/career, success, and ability to achieve what they want to achieve in life.
If you have decided that you are ready to learn why you may be procrastinating and how you can stop it, this guide is for you! In this guide, you will learn:
What procrastination actually is
How seriously procrastination can affect your life
How to recognize the symptoms of procrastination in your life
Why you may be a procrastinator
Five-point blueprint for stopping procrastination in its tracks and the negative effects of it in your life
This guide is for the chronic procrastinator and the one who only procrastinates in certain areas or at certain times. It is beneficial for anyone who thinks procrastination is affecting any area of their life. The blueprint and tips for stopping procrastination are simple and effective, requiring only your commitment to recognizing procrastination and work through the blueprint and steps.
To quote William James again, It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.
So keep a positive mindset as you read the guide and apply the information and tips. Here’s to a successful outcome as you take your journey to freedom from procrastination!
Chapter 1: What is Procrastination and Why Do You Procrastinate?
Procrastination is when one delays doing something that they know they should or must do, and usually within a certain time frame. Another common term for procrastination is putting off
something, as in I put off doing my taxes until the last minute.
While the definition of procrastination is simple enough to understand, why people procrastinate, especially given the negative impact it has on their life, is not easily understood. Why would someone procrastinate filing their taxes when they have four months into the new year to work on tax forms and file
