From Good to Great - Deborah Stonell
INTRODUCTION
My husband and I have been extraordinarily happy together for a long time. As of 2023, we have been together for 19 years. Many people comment on our successful day to day living as a happy and content couple and how easy going our relationship is. Strangers and friends alike remark on how good we are together.
People always ask us, How do you do it?!
We are genuinely happy, genuinely loving, genuinely supportive of one other and genuinely surprised whenever someone says, Marriage is hard
. Because to us, it’s not hard, it’s not hard at all.
We learnt and used the keys to a successful marriage from early on and I am putting those keys in this book, so that whether your marriage is old or young, it can be successful… if you use them.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; [NKJV]
I decided to write this book because I love to encourage believers to live a full life, to walk as they are called and to realise everything, yes everything is possible within the will of God – including your marriage to be a truly great one!
This book is written for Christians by a committed Christian.
I make no apology for that.
I can only testify truthfully to what I have personally lived. The stuff in this book is authentic.
If you do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord, Saviour and King, you may struggle with the words in this book.
I do not pertain to have all the answers, but I know a Man who does! His name is Jesus.
The advice I give in this book is assuming that you will put Jesus first and the rest is my own experience with my husband. This works for us.
If you are not a believer, you may still glean some practical and encouraging habits from this book and I believe they can help you but honestly, for a full and abundant life, get Jesus in the centre – it truly is the only way.
The simplicity of a great marriage is making Jesus Christ the foundation. I am not just spouting off words here. My husband and I are living proof that the words in this book are effective. For a Christian couple, this is so important – Jesus MUST be your foundation.
Now before you switch off because you think, that’s easier said than done, why is that? Why do you think that?
When a lot of couples have children, they have no problems putting their children first, even if they were considered the most selfish or self-absorbed person
