About this ebook

The greatest gift the baby queen, Queen AlaHanDrea, gave to her creatures, was the ability to communicate, via the communication collars, or comm collars, as they were called, translating languages of every type, man and beast... to include many alien dialects. Uniting the species was not that difficult of a task, once everyone could communicate freely.
New species were created from mixed marriages, usually occurring while both parties were in human state.

Living in a world with a variety of magical, shapeshifting creatures was a new experience for all involved.

Prior to the Ion 6 refugees arrival, as far as the dragons knew, they were the only magical, shapeshifting creatures on Taurus 9. The refugees added a multitude of giant, magical, shapeshifting creatures to the mix, shaking things up quite a bit for Drakania, as well as allowing the human sectors, commonly referred to, as the mainland, to know that shapeshifters existed.

Queen AlaHanDrea was a terrifying gift that was as loved as she was feared. Even as a young girl, Queen AlaHahDrea led her loyal troops, made up of a multitude of species, into victorious battles, protecting the planet from would be invaders.

It is said that the prettier the rose, the sharper the thorns.
Contrary to what many believed about dragons, they preferred a peaceful existence. Humans engaging in war like activities, placed both sides in danger... risking the dragons flying over, destroying both sides. Diplomatic solutions were encouraged.
In a world of carnivorous creatures and omnivores, predator and prey, certain concessions had to be made, compromises had to be reached. Dragons, having an extremely sensitive sense of smell, were able to smell the odor sin makes on a person. As a compromise, dragons tried to only consume humans stinking of sin. Food wagons made their rounds, collecting those who reeked of sin. According to the dragons, the people inside the food wagons, volunteered to be there. They knew the price of sin before they committed it!

Death by dragons did a world of good at lowering crime rates in the cities.

No stranger to technology, the peace loving dragons had a theory about the secret to a more peaceful existence, planet wide. Dragon kind believed that the secret to a more peaceful existence, was in keeping the women satisfied. They weren't wrong. The world was a much more pleasant place to live after the Love Academy opened its doors. Adolescent males were sent to the Academy for up to 2 years, studying every form and aspect of romance, with the help of female volunteers, mostly older, more experienced women, tended to volunteer. Everything from discovering erogenous zones, to ballroom dancing, males were taught how to please women.
Males, no matter the species, seem to seek only a few things to be happy; food, sex, wealth and power and not necessarily in that order. Learning to please women, insured their ability to have all of the sex they wanted and most women will feed a man! Especially if he just rocked her world!

About the planet... the name Taurus 9 was actually referring to half of the planet. Separated by an invisible border, with a neutral zone between, reaching completely around the planet, the other side was known as Gemini 9, home to the many species of giants that called the planet home.. Cyclopse, Quadis, Longis, Eugi's, Oddis and T-Thorps, the largest of all of the species of giants, just to name a few, tended to remain on their side of the planet, with occasional visits to do battle with Drakonia.
Since the arrival of the Baby Queen, all of the separatism's were coming to an end!

Dragons Are People, Too - Jeri Andrew

Volume 2: Dragons Are People, Too

    Chapter 1

Keithen was scratching his head, pacing...

He just didn't quite know what to make of it all.

    Life could sure be confusing.

Keithen knew his egg had laid dormant for quite a few years, due to a quake that occurred while his family was away on vacation.

Fortunately, his egg had rolled, landing in a bed of silver moss by the straight face base of the mountain. Luckily, a flat slab fell first, landing at an angle, creating a tomb, once tons of rock and dirt slid down and buried him. (Dragon eggs will lay dormant, unless it’s able to draw nutrients from a parent, or other creature).

What he wasn't clear about, was why it took so many years for George to find him.

Oh, the young prince was grateful that his father never gave up looking for him, but he hadn't really thought about the details much.

His poor mother, believing her husband to have died when an aftershock sent tons of rock and dirt down on top of him.

What none of them realized, except George, of course, was that George had shifted, in order to crawl through a small cave opening he found while digging, then the aftershock struck. Human miners found him, nearly dead. When he woke up, he couldn't remember anything, not even his name, or, that he was a dragon, much less remembering that he was the king of Drakonia, as well as King of the world!

George’s nurse, Barbara, was very kind, as well as devoted. She remained by his side both day and night, until he woke up from his coma. She fed him, bathed him, dressed him, tended to his every need, even after she was off shift.

Once George was released from the hospital, Barbara continued to take care of him, calling him John, John Doe, until he was pretty much healed.

John had no where to go, since he couldn’t even remember his own name, so, of course, Barbara offer him to stay at her home. She insisted, actually.

It was inevitable that the two of them fell in love, given the amount of time the couple spent together, as well as the intimacy of their situation.

Once John was stronger, he took a job in a quarry. Soon after, he proposed to Barbara.

To the best of George’s knowledge, no one had ever come looking for him, so, John began a whole new life for himself.

Years passed since Barbara had begun taking care of John.

Early one morning, shortly after the beginning of the new year, John and Barbara were enjoying a wonderful morning. She had prepared him a wonderful breakfast, waking him up early enough for the couple to spend some quality time making love, while they were all rested from a full nights sleep.

A big breakfast with Barbara for desert, and John was in a pretty good mood for going to work that day! Barbara asked him to please hurry home from work, there was something she wanted to discuss with him, it was a surprise! She let him know that she making a special supper, as well as his favorite desert!

He assured her he would go straight home. No stopping for drinks with the guys...

While John was at work, digging in the quarry, a small quake shook the ground, causing a minor rock slide.

George stood up straight, all of a sudden, his memory came flooding back!

He began to run to the other side of the mountain, stopped and shifted for the first time in decades! Then took to the skies, flying back to search for Keithen's lost egg.

He had a whole new motivation for finding that egg!

As long as he had been gone, and, in light of his second life, he dared not return to Isabel without that egg!

The king worked day and night, digging with a whole new energy, relentless in his pursuit for at least a remnant of that egg!

    The day finally arrived!

George couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the pocket created by that leaning shelf.

But, there laid Keithen's egg, safe and sound, on that bed of silver moss!

He thanked the powers that be, tucking the egg safely away in his pouch.

As thrilled as he was that he had found Keithen’s egg, he sat on the ground for a bit, catching his breath, thinking about Barbara, but oh, so anxious to get home to Isabel.  He didn’t even know what he could say to Barbara! She had devoted her entire life to him from the moment he was taken into the hospital.

He finally decided that he would just have to deal with Barbara later, he needed to get home to Isabel! So, he took to the air & headed back home to his Queen, his love, his wife, his life!

While flying back to Drakania, he wondered how it was Barbara wasn’t aware that he was the missing king. It wasn’t like him being missing was some kind of great secret! His guards must have been looking for him! How odd that no one recognized him...  and where was his crown?

He landed for a moment, rubbing the spot on his head that took the most damage from the falling rocks, as if the wound was still fresh.

The bewildered king focused on his crown, summoning it to him. It took a little bit, but his crown finally made its way back to its rightful place, atop of George’s head!

With his crown back, he looked at himself, then headed for water! He needed a serious swim! The man was about to return from the dead, but he didn’t really want to look and smell like he was returning from the grave! A quick hunting trip produced 3 poachers for his supper. With a full belly and a good bath, he was finally beginning to feel a bit like his old self again!

The anxious king returned to the air, headed for home, but his mind was asking questions, like, what about the clothes he had been wearing? His clothing should have identified him as the king! He had been wearing his royal jewels as well... his medallions... his kings rings!

    His wedding rings!

He really didn’t want to return home without his wedding rings and locket with Isabel’s picture in it.

He landed again, focussing on his clothes and jewelry until they made their way back to their rightful owner.

It really didn’t take that long for his items to make it back to him, which meant, they weren’t lost. They were put away.

Once his wedding rings were back on & his medallions were hung around his neck, he was finally ready to see his wife! Night was setting in. Flying alone at night was generally a bad idea! Still, he really didn’t want to wait.

George was very careful about how he called Kenneth and Craigen, he didn’t want word of him coming home to get out. He wanted to be the one to tell Isabel.

Franklon, Paulio, Kenneth and Craigen rounded up a squadron of more than 250 dragons, then took to the skies to retrieve their king!

George had a ground fire going when the guys arrived. His guards were so excited to have him back! They sat and talked about everything, where George had been and why, he showed off his egg...

The guys explained to George about Braynar...

Poor Barbara never knew what became of John. He left for work one day and just never returned!

They had had such a good life together! She had planned to tell him that they were expecting, over a romantic dinner for 2 that evening, when he got home from work. She never got the chance, raising her son alone, and at her age. A son she had hoped would bind her and John together, forever. She knew the day would come that he would remember who he was. Her son was to be her insurance that they would always be connected. Only, she didn’t get the chance to tell him!

She loved her son very much and raised him as best she could, keeping his identity a secret as much as possible. She assumed John’s memory had returned, she wasn’t wrong. Barbara was afraid for her life! Fearing that with the return of his memory, he might actually order her execution..

George’s heart broke for his poor Isabel...remarrying and losing husband number 2... but, he didn't feel quite as guilty about Barbara.

He swore everyone to secrecy, so that he could surprise Isabel, then rushed home. His stomach was in a knot from the anticipation, as he reached for the doorknob, turning it and pushing the front door open, then he tried to use humor to lighten the blow, he hollered, Honey, I'm Home!

Isabel took one look at George and passed smooth out!

She woke up to George holding her in his arms.

Sweetheart, it's me, honey, I'm home and look, I found our egg! he pulled the egg from his pouch and showed it to her.

    She fainted again!

When she woke up, she was laying in her bed with George fast asleep beside her.

Isabel was in shock! George felt her stirring and woke up. He told her that he knew all about her son and there was nothing to be forgiven for... she had done nothing wrong.

He apologized profusely for having been gone so long and told her he had been in an accident, losing his memory, but didn't exactly fill in the details.

The expectant dad carried their egg to hatch, named him Prince Keithen and restarted their family with 2 sons.

Braynar was 11 years old. A very tender age... when a boy really needs a father! He and George bonded right away and life went on.

Keithen had never really given any thought to who Braynar's father was, neither had Braynar. As far as the boys were concerned, George was dad..

Now, they find out that Mother was married again while she thought herself to be a widow, then lost her second husband. They felt really badly for everything their mother had endured. They had a whole new respect for her.

DANALLI , DUDE, THERE'S a human woman looking for you, says she's your mother! Craigen said to his long time friend. Danalli had never really spoken of his mother to anyone... it wasn't that he was ashamed of her, or of her being human, he didn't really know how he felt, or how the other dragons would feel, if they knew he was also human.

Yeah, okay, thanks man, um, um, well um, yeah, show her in, He said nervously, as he quickly shifted.

It had been ages since he'd seen his mother.

    "Danalli!

    My baby!"

Hello mother, it's so good to see you! He said, then picked her up for a big hug.

"You've really grown, filled out, look how muscular you are as a man!

    Wow, son!

    Look
