Chapter  1

Teri’s allergy to hornets was unknown before that terrible day, when she was stung, then fell into the web of those giant, killer spiders.

King Titus headed over to check on the granddaughter of his new supreme king and hero to him and his people.

The poor child had only recently lost her mother, and then, her dad, uncles, grandfather, guards, all lay sick in the hospital. The very least he could do, was to help take great good care of the young lady.

So, Cat, how's Teri? Titus  asked, voice full of genuine concern.

"The herbs Tootsie gave her and the ones you suggested, seem to be making her much better.

You seem to be knowledgeable about healing herbs."

Yes, I come from a line of healers myself. I know a thing or two... I get by... Any word on the guys?

"Isabel says their fevers have broken.

The splotches have gone away.

They are all expected to make a full recovery.

Guards actually found Craigen laying unconscious, with splotches all over him. He had to be taken in to be treated.

We don't know how many more that may have been in contact with that vile creature."

"How embarrassing for the men.

They can't exactly deny having had sex with that thing," Cat commented.

That's true... Speaking of having sex... King Titus commented with a naughty grin.

"So, what did you think of that little bit of trouble we got ourselves into earlier?

We cut it kind of close, don't ya think?" Cat asked , as if she didn’t hear the kings comment.

Ya, that we did, we sure did! I don't mind telling you, I was beginning to get a little scared there for a minute. I was afraid that all 4 of us were going to die by spiders... Titus told her.

I know what you mean. We were outnumbered and surrounded!

"That AlaHanDrea is a remarkable creature!

I've got to admit, I was impressed when Angels showed up and scared the spiders away!

Now THAT'S  when you know you've got clout... And that gals got clout!

That, she does! Cat replied, trying to hide her annoyance...

The whole thing does put an interesting spin on today.... He said, smiling at her. I had a great time before the spiders ...

He walked over closer to her, tilted her face up and kissed her very sweetly, making sparks fly!

I'd sure like to do that again, sometime, he said, kissing her again, more passionately.

Excuse me, your highness, I don't wish to intrude, but you're being summoned by your throne, Brian told her, through a slightly opened door.

Duty calls! Titus remarked.

"It would seem so.... Ya, well, shoot.

Thank you for a wonderful time! Hopefully, we can get together again real soon!" She gave him a quick kiss and left with Brian.

Once they were out of earshot, she said, thanks Brian, I owe you one!

No problem, your highness, glad to be of service...

Titus, what are you doing out here by yourself? AlaHanDrea asked.

Titus had a kind of lost look on his face.

He wasn't for sure, but he thought he just gotten blown off.

"Well, I wasn't alone, Cat just left.

She seems different after the battle.

Maybe it's all in my head. I got the impression that she wasn't as excited about being with me as she was before we had sex.

She made a comment about me not going to love college.

Can you please take me by there, so I can see what she was talking about?" the disappointed king asked.

Sure, no problem. Say, why don't you come with me for a minute. Come on, come with me, she coaxed.

Sure, why not.

Shift.

Huh?

You heard me, shift.

What if I don't want to?

"C'mon, let me see your dragon again, well, o.k. you don't have to.

Titus, you don't have to be in man state to be with me."

I don't?

No, shift.

He stared at her for a moment, then shifted. She looked him straight in the eyes and shifted to dragon.

"Well, I'll be.

You can do that!

Is there anything you can't do?" the bewildered newcomer asked her.

"It's o.k. that we are different from one another. It's not that we Have to change in order to be with one another... it's that we Can change, in order to be with one another... and it's no big deal to do so.

It's a privilege, not a curse."

So, what you're saying is, that it's o.k. to be different and still be together ..

"That's exactly what I am saying!

We are not pretending to be something we're not in order to be with one another, secretly being something we are not... That's wrong...

We are blessed to have the ability to adapt.

In order to be able to mingle...

Dane is an incredible man!

I could never know the joy of him, were we not blessed with the ability to adapt."

Why don't you and Dane marry?

Dane is married.

Why is Dane not married to you?

"Because I don't marry. Dane needs to make lots and lots of babies...

He's a Mer.

I can breathe underwater, but I don't care to live underwater.

He can breathe on the dry land, he doesn't want to live on the dry land.

We love each other enough to not ruin what we have by placing unreal expectations on our relationship.

We love one another enough to allow each other the freedom to live our lives.

Would you like to see some videos?"

Sure, why not.

O.k., well, let's get comfortable with hammocks and nectar and prepare to be bored," AlaHanDrea told him.

Titus made the area comfortable with hammocks and such, while AlaHanDrea prepared the videos for viewing...

Aaahhh, what a beautiful baby! Titus exclaimed.

Thank you, that's me.

"You look like you were entertaining yourself discovering your toes... Ah, there's your angel, watching over you.

So, Athena has been with you for your whole life...?"

"Yes, since I was 2 1/2 days old.

Is that Dane?

It is.

"Ah, you're crawling to go see Athena. Look at you go! And so tiny! Wow, you sat up really well on your own, to have been so young. Oh, you saw Dane, that's why you stopped and sat up, smiling. Oh, look at you, bouncing on your butt, drooling...

Wow, you two did fall in love as babies!

Aaah, He helped you learn to walk!

Aaahhh...

You could sure throw a fit! Just listen to you, just because he had to go."

Ya, but there was no one to care how much of a fit I threw. So, I'd have to get happy again all on my own.

Wow! You've always been alone. I mean, always...well, except for Athena, of course.

"And Leon, and Bjorn and William ... I've always been alone, but have never been alone. My creatures are my family. And now, my dragons, too.

"Aaah, look at you! Your what, 4 years old? Oh, look at you two dance together on skates! Wow!

O.k. how old were you in this one, oooh, look at you looking like a little woman!"

I was 9. Keithen was taking me out to the ball!

Oh wow, how sweet! Oh, Dane showed up! That boy can sing!

That's the song he wrote me for my first birthday.

"Wow, you two could really skate dance!

Oh! You both age shifted! Where was he taking you to?

Hey, where'd you go?"

"We got sucked into this weird dimensional thing with terrifying creatures in it! Bob rescued us...

That's enough videos for now."

Why?

Because I got abducted shortly after that, and held on mimic island for the next few years ...

Oh, I'm so sorry. You and Dane were such a cute couple! You still are.

He and I will always have a special bond. He's my Dane, I'm his baby queen.

I think I understand better now. You two are an incredible love story!
