About this ebook

Heraclitus (540 BCE) observed that “Men who wish to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details”

His push-pull theory, “Opposites attract,” notes that forces, in opposition, one pushing, one pulling, become static and withstand any attempt at human control.

The sex drive is not a human force. It is a Natural Law which may ex-press itself in violence if not accommodated.
One young man said about the male sex drive, he clenched his fists, grit his teeth, and said, “Some times a man’s just gotta have it!”

Yes. Either by violence, or guile, “a man's just gotta have it.”

Sex work is a viable solution to accommodate that natural drive. Christians, in particular, have been vocal and punitive in attempting to control that un-controllable force. There is no logic nor intelligence in their warped opinion of sex workers. Historically, their condemnation of female enterprise, in general, has been one of vengeance and raw hatred.

Read the New Testament. You may learn something about Christian love from the Master Himself.

    THE ONE GREAT LAW

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.

AND THE SECOND LAW IS LIKE UNTO IT:

Treat others the way you would have them treat you.

There are people who don’t accept the idea of God, don’t need a God and don’t want a God. So, instilling a law where they have to love something, a faceless, formless, unseen concept, a God - is meaningless.

But, the second law, Treat others the way you want them to treat you, makes good sense. You don’t need a god to tell you what to do, how to treat people. You stand a better chance at life if you treat people well.

Yes, it makes sense to treat each other respectfully, treat your neighbor as yourself. How many of us do that?...we mean to, but, we forget...

It’s a give/take way of life. A caring attitude toward your neighbor goes a long way toward survival.

    Define Laws

Let’s define our terms and examine the concept of laws. What is a law? What is its purpose? Do we need laws?

Usually, a law, a custom, a social expectation or rule, is created by a group of people in order to control the behavior of that group - and others - to stay within some man-made social boundary.

Human laws are an attempt to control perceived errant human behavior for the good of the majority.

But, social boundaries are adjustable. They can be weakened, abandoned, strengthened, broken, and misunderstood. They are largely opinions, which can be malleable, contestable.

And for those reasons, human laws - human opinions - are not predictable, not dependable, perhaps even fickle. And, oddly, humans depend on these un-dependable, fickle laws for assurance, order and safety.

    NATURE’S LAWS - ABSOLUTES

In addition to human laws, scientists and philosophers have discovered laws of nature that are immutable. Laws that cannot be broken, adjusted or ignored.

So, perhaps calling these immutable forces a law, is a mis-label. Perhaps Laws of Nature should be termed Absolutes of Nature. They absolutely must be obeyed. These Absolutes control all life, humans, every thing.

These laws are absolute, immutable, pervasive, eternal.

If an Absolute Law is broken, there is no mercy, no prison time to serve, no easy payments over time, no second chance, no bail-bonding.

No pathetic wayward youth can plead, I didn’t know no better!

There’s no way back, chaos is the result. Chaos, beyond human control, beyond human understanding, is the irreparable result.

Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher in approximately 500 BC, asserted that the world exists as a coherent system in which a change in one direction is ultimately balanced by a corresponding change in another.

He called that balance of nature the Unity of Opposites, a push/pull force, where opposites are identical and in constant operation.

In my pathetic understanding of physics, we are told that if a force pushes and ‘pulls’ equally, simultaneously on itself, then the halves - the two forces - come to a dead stop, they balance.

If, there is a Unity of Opposites, then, Nature is naturally static, which means for a human to change it, or tamper with it, would be disastrous.

These forces appear static, but if they are forces they are continuous, always in motion. What may seem to be a dead stop, is a balance of active forces, not static forces.

    The force is perpetual.

Like the sex drive, it is natural, pervasive,

    The sex drive is perpetual.

Human nature is based on a natural law. If it is natural it cannot be broken, or changed. It is the nature of the law - nature = nature-al.

Ben Franklin said to find a need and fill it. We don’t need to find the sex drive, it always was and always will be - right in front of us. We don’t need to find it, but we do need to fill it - fulfill it, work with it. We cannot ignore it.

    SEX IS AN IRRESISTIBLE FORCE

In this situation, the human sex drive, the Force is Nature, that which is natural, not man-made.

Like the heat of the desert sun, the force of the tides, the tremors of an earthquake, the sex drive is uncontrollable.

We are born, lumbered, with this natural force. We didn’t ask for it. There are perhaps those people who would rather return the gift and get their money back.

    Impossible.

Yet, amusingly, we have pills to attempt to control it, medicines, palliatives, meditation and energy-exhausting sports to overcome the power of the drive.

In case those remedies don’t work to control the drive, then we are exposed to the threats of Hell and Damnation if we surrender to sex -and, God forbid, enjoy it!

We may resist, but to no avail.

Hmmm, it just occurred to me, could that be why the monks of centuries ago used to flagellate themselves? Did wicked thoughts of lust fill their brains with the possibility of wanton sex?

Did the slicing cuts of the whip erase the normal drive of sexual tension? something completely out of the control of humankind?

    The drive is persistent.

No matter what we mortals do, the force, the drive of sex, can over-take reason.

    Mother Nature wins.

So, can we, at all, control a force of Nature?

    No.

If we cannot control it, then we must accommodate it.

But, before we can accommodate, control, the force of the sex drive, let’s look at the history of how the force was controlled in the past.

    SCRIPTURE

    SEX BECOMES A SIN

However, rather than accept the sex drive as a natural force, that is, something we are born with, something out of human conscious control, some belief systems, religions, make it a sin.

Some religions apparently believe that God gave us a built-in sin system that we are expected to overcome that is not over-comable.

And, worse, the act of sex is not a venial sin, but - according to some religions - a mortal sin. According to some belief systems, a mortal sin is one for which you cannot be forgiven.

And, therefore, you are condemned to burn in Hell forever.

Forever is a hell of a long time.

A long time for doing something totally out of your control, something that is imposed on you by Nature.

A "venial" sin is one you will not burn in Hell for. It can be worked out in some amicable way, like increasing your tithing.

Isn’t it interesting how mortals can snap their fingers and take over God’s responsibility and proclaim something a sin. A mechanism - a drive - that we’re born with and have no conscious control over. We declare Nature a sin.

For those of you who are concerned about the state of your soul if you commit adultery, let’s review what the Bible says about that.

Of course, the warnings in the Bible and sundry religious laws, only concern married,
