Giraffe Species

The number of giraffe species is a hot topic among scientists! There is an ongoing debate about how many there are. However, there are currently four officially recognized species:

Northern Giraffe

The northern giraffe, also known as the Sahara giraffe, is a giraffe found in several African countries, including Chad, Mali, Niger, and Sudan. The northern giraffe has four subspecies: the Kordofan giraffe, the Nubian giraffe, the Rothschild’s giraffe, and the West African giraffe.

The northern giraffe is known for its distinctive coat pattern, which features large, irregularly-shaped brown patches separated by thin white lines.

Northern giraffes have longer necks than other giraffes, and they can reach a
