THERE are 135 species of buck, also known as antelope, of which 33 are found in Southern Africa. In this region they vary in size from the tiny Damara dikdik, which is about the size of a rabbit, to the majestic eland, which stands about 1,7m tall and can weigh more than 700kg.
Their social structures range from the solitary steenbok to the social wildebeest. Some migrate while others are sedentary. All are ideally adapted to their environment. Let’s find out more.
