There are 9 subspecies of tigers, three of which are extinct: Sumatran, Siberian, Indian (or Bengal), South China, Malayan, Indo-Chinese, Bali (extinct), Javan (extinct) and Caspian (extinct).

The largest subspecies of tiger is the Siberian tiger. An adult male can weigh up to 300 kg (660 lbs).
