    During the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah Nebuchadnezzar the tyrant from the country of Babylon came into the city of Jerusalem and captured it.

    And God gave Nebuchadnezzar the king of Judah into his hands along with some of the artifacts of the Temple which he took into his city of Shinar in the courts of his idols, and he placed them inside of the pagan temple before his gods.

    And King Nebuchadnezzar spoke to a servant named Ashpenaz and said that he should bring certain virgins of the people of Israel, and the king’s bloodline and of the princes.

    The children should have no spot or wrinkle, but good looking and healthy, having wisdom in everything, good in the knowledge of science and the discipline to stand before the king in the palace. They should also be able to learn the Chaldean language so that they can communicate effectively in the palace and country.

    And when the servant of the king had captured them the king gave them a daily provision of food and the wine which he drank. He did this
