    Sloth Facts

    Sloths are part of a group of mammals called arboreal Neotropical xenarthran mammals. Arboreal means that they live in trees, while Neotropical is a biogeographic region that makes up most of Central and South America. Xenarthran is a group of animals only found in the Americas. Other xenarthrans include armadillos and anteaters.

    Sloths are famous for being really slow. They spend most of their lives just lounging around in trees.

    Sloths travel at a speed of around 0.24 km/h (0.15 mph)—making them the slowest animals on Earth.
