SHARK PIG FISH
A day at sea for a group of Italian sailors has resulted in the discovery of an unusual fish that resembles the body of a shark crossed with the face of a pig. The strangelooking creature was found floating on the water by crewmen of a naval vessel in the Darsena Medicea on the Italian island of Elba. It was confirmed the animal was an ‘angular roughshark’ or Oxynotus centrina which tend to live 700 metres below the waves of the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Often referred to as a ‘pig-faced shark’, the animal is currently listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Yuri
