TALENTED TENTACLES
An aquarium in Florida has shared a video of an artistic octopus using its tentacles to produce a painting. The Florida Aquarium in Tampa posted the clip to their social media sites showing the eight-armed-artist, named Farallon, painting on a plastic-wrapped canvas with minimum assistance from a human keeper. Aquarium Biologist, Halley Miller, explained, “Like all giant Pacific octopus, The Florida Aquarium’s GPO Farallon is an extremely intelligent creature. Enrichment activities are key to optimal animal welfare, as a result the professional care team provide her with a wide variety of activities from puzzles, to painting and more.” Using her long arms and suckers to spread the paint around, Farallon created at least two blue-andpurplecoloured art pieces that were later given away in a competition to celebrate the
