1 The web-footed gecko quenches its thirst by licking moisture from its eyeballs.
2 The box jellyfish has 24 eyes.
3 A guinea pig sleeps with its eyes open.
4 The yellow mongoose has rectangular pupils.
6 An ostrich’s eyes are bigger than its brain.
5 The stargazer (fish) has eyes on top of its head that shoot out electricity to stun its prey.
7 A polar bear has a membrane over each eye that helps protect them from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet light.
10 Cats, dogs, and horses can have heterochromia—two different-coloured eyes.
