    Introduction

I am writing this book to help people who may have lost their way or need guidance navigating today’s modern world. By looking at me, you would not know, but I have been: stabbed, shot, heartbroken, betrayed, cheated on, homeless, on the run, broke, manipulated, broken, incarcerated, suffered the loss of a parent, had back surgery, died, and brought back to life. If you know me, I am one of the realest and most genuine people you will ever meet. All I can say is thank God I am still here. The life I lived and the experiences I have been through built me into who I am today. I want people to learn from my mistakes. This book will share some of the wisdom I gained along the way by examining three key factors:

    1.Understanding Who You Are

    2.Understanding The Opposition

    3.FRIENDS

I was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. Everyone thinks all people from CT are rich, but we are not. I lived in Fair Haven, which was mostly black and Hispanic, until I was about seven. I went to a catholic school and received honors for most of the academic years of middle school. Then my parents moved us to West Hills and later to Westville. My father died from a blood clot in the heart on September 12, 2000, leaving me, my mom, and my sister. My mother did the best she could to provide for us and take on the role of both parents. I graduated from Hill Regional Career High School, then I attended the University of Hartford for one semester and could not return due to finances. I was working dead-end jobs because I did not have a degree, and I ended up quitting most of them because they did not pay enough.

With no education, no job, and no guidance, I did the only option I thought I had left. So, (in my late teens and early twenties), I hit the streets and sold drugs, sending my life into a downward spiral of addiction, criminal activity, getting arrested multiple times, going to jail, and constantly messing up. I am not proud of the things I have done or think I am better than anyone. I am going to share my thoughts on the way I view the world and support my opinions with real-life experiences. If I have offended or hurt anyone along the way, I apologize. If anyone has wronged me, I forgive you.

I am just a man who has seen and been through a lot in life, like many others in this world. I want to use my wisdom to help others so they will not have to learn the hard way. Life is unpredictable. Nothing can stop your growth but your own lack of ambition, excuses, laziness, and procrastination. I hope reading this book helps you get back on track and motivated to progress in life. I want you to understand that no matter what you
