"I know but one Freedom, and that is the Freedom of the mind." ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Book%20Insert%20Pic%20%231.jpgPreface
A Journey to Freedom is my path of self-discovery by peeling away false beliefs imposed upon by family and society. Once you make the conscious decision to discover who you are and what you really believe and think, you can look at the world from a different perspective and approach it with willful excitement and joy.
Once I discovered how to harness my thoughts, I was able to slowly begin to change them. After the process of understanding my thoughts and how they created reactionary responses, I was able to learn to move from reactionary situations, to one of responsiveness. Once you learn that your emotions are the trigger for your reactions, you then can begin to understand that most of what you have been doing is based upon false belief systems. This is when you begin to take your power back. My story is how I moved through discovering myself to how I choose to perceive and live in the world. We all have that right, to perceive and live in the world on our own terms. Once you realize that seeking approval from others and trying to fit in will only bring you misery, is when the butterfly within you will emerge. Our mind/body connection is the beginning of the journey. Be prepared to accept responsibility and accountability.
A Journey to Freedom, has given me the ability to discover who I truly am and what I truly believe and think. Through awareness, consciousness and honesty with myself I have emerged with a profound understanding of life. If you are struggling and not completely happy with your life, join me on My Journey and allow me to show you how to free yourself of unwanted and unnecessary thoughts to evolve with a greater understanding of who you are and what you truly desire.
Dedication
Mastering Today is dedicated to my younger sister who died in 2009. She lost her will and way and essentially ended her life by not taking care of herself. I will not elaborate in the details of her struggles, but she was a beautiful kind gentle soul who did not have the strength to deal in this uncertain world filed with violence, betrayal, mistrust and liberty lost. In honor of my sister Lisa, I made a promise to myself and the universe that I would begin to live a life of gratitude and kindness and to be more aware of others to recognize any hidden pain they may be struggling with and to offer them another way to look at the world and recognize that society does not give them their identity and to understand that we have to learn to look within for our answers rather than live based upon false belief systems. I did not have the skills I have today that may have helped my sister, so I plan to honor her by trying to reach and help as many other people I can that needs hope, inspiration and a reason to believe in themselves.

A Simple Childhood to Unconscious Adult
I grew up in a modest family one of six children. As I recall, it was a happy childhood. Like many others, it was lacking in guidance and direction of what to expect as an adult. I recognize my parents did the best they could with what they had. My dad was an orphan, who joined the military as soon as he could and he certainly had no one to teach him. My mother was from Germany, a little girl during the Hitler reign. They met in Germany when my father was stationed over there. My mother had six children and pretty much raised us on her own, my dad made the money. They did the best they could and never walked away from their family.
Now back to me. So entering adulthood unconsciously, as many of us at 18-20 do, we think we know everything and we can handle anything, but that simply is not true. It is so fundamentally important to teach coping skills, identity skills and most importantly some source of faith and guidance to children. This is what I meant about an unconscious adult. I really had no idea how to cope and certainly did not know anything about connecting and understanding my core beliefs and lacked any spirituality. So I essentially spent 20 years working and being and truly never really understood why we are here, what is our purpose in this universe.
After many personal mistakes, (addiction, arrests, weight gain), I told myself and made the decision that I had to change and learn to live my life with a purpose. I have always been a people pleaser and know that is much of the reason with the mistakes and inability to cope with situations in my life. I turned inward and tried to discover who I was and what I truly enjoyed. I have never been one to ask for help, I simply did not know how. I have struggled with weight my entire life and I presume the inability to understand or cope with that was also another triggering factor in my many trials. To lose weight I began walking
