About this ebook

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Prov. 4:23).

Whether we know it or not, all of us have had heart trouble. The good news is that Jesus Christ is the best heart specialist of all time.

In this collection, Bessie examines the Bible's references to the heart: what God says about our condition, and what provision He has made for us in Jesus Christ. It is no-nonsense Bible teaching with an emphasis on practical application.

    Foreword

Back in the 1980s and ’90s, Community Christian Ministries published a little free magazine called The Hammer. The title was taken from Jeremiah 23:29, Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? It was published from time to time whenever there were articles ready and sufficient funds available for another edition, and it went through various formats and iterations.

It was in this little publication that these articles were first printed. Bessie Wilson was a regular contributor to The Hammer, and her featured column was called The Heart. Thus it is that we have this little treasure trove of Bessie’s short meditations on the heart, now compiled into a book.
